Eguavoen Slams Ighalo, Dennis Over AFCON Snub

Nigeria head coach Austine Eguavoen has criticised Odion Ighalo and Emmanuel Dennis for not showing enough desire to represent the country at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, reports Completesports.com.

Ighalo and Dennis were named in Nigeria’s 28-man squad for the competition, but their clubs refused to release them for the competition.

“It’s over now, we have to face the truth, no one cares about excuses,”

“We must respect people’s opinions, but there are rules about laying off players. It is due to the player’s desire individually first, and who must fight to play for the national team.

“We were fighting similar battles during our playing days, and we were fighting to play for the national team because it is an honor.

“Everyone has the same goal, whether it is the football federation, the fans, or the players.”

The Super Eagles will face the Pharaohs of Egypt in their opening game of the 2021 AFCON finals at the Stade Roumde Adjia, Garoua on Tuesday (today).

Can this stupid Eguavon shut up now. Reality is about to dawn on you and you are starting to be scared. As you lay your bed you lie on it. Stupid bribe eater.

    • Kolawole 2 years ago

Siasia failed in the AFCON qualifier against Guinea not Eguavoen

      • Kola USA… What’s the hate you have for Siasia, eguaveon started the journey when he lost to Guinea 0-1 at there ground.

        • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

As if Rohr did not lose his first 2019 AFCON qualifier vs SA and still qualify with games to spare….LMAoooo.

Keep looking for excuses to justify Siasia’s failure.

Like you were in a hurry to insult someone who your parents on and off couldn’t rise to the fame he reached and still counting. Obviously, you are smiling to yourself that you have
made a number one comment, how foolish can that be. For the record, Eguavoen started his coaching career with Sliema Wanderers. After a year in Sliema, Eguavoen took up the coaching job at Bendel Insurance briefly before he was appointed Nigeria U20. His stint with the youth team between 2002 and 2003, heralded his promotion to the Super Eagles head coach position in 2005 where he worked alongside former teammates Samson Siasia, Ike Shorunmu and Daniel Amokachi. The first stint ended in 2007 and he moved to South Africa a year later to coach Black Leopards. The former Super Eagles defender became Enyimba manager for the 2008-09 season where he won the federation cup before he was again called by the NFF to succeed Lars Lagerback in June 2010. Too many to call.

Eguavoen reality is stirring you on the face as you betrayed the trust of Nigerians!!..you had the opportunity to replace this guys with Dessers, Bassey or Amoo, yet you ignored the right counsel because of your stupid relationship with them .You will only be respected if you lift this cup otherwise we don’t want you near our national team again !!

  • Mr Eguavouen you are still using old tactics when a coach is not flexible in his/her coaching approach things like this will happen you have so many good active players but you choose to be inflexible behaving as if nigeria don’t have good active players ok no problem we are watching.

That’s the quality of a disciplinarian, exactly why in domestic parlance the Cerezo is know as a ‘No nonsense’ coach but for Ighalo, not Dennis, it was widely reported that he made frantic efforts to honor his fatherland. What I understand from the Super Eagles interim Coach criticism is that the players are still needed for the World Cup playoff matches in March, enough time to sought out their invitation issues. Let’s hope the Sports Ministry will not start changing the winning team few weeks to the playoff as such could affect players invitation that we experienced in the case Dennis and others. Eguavoen, go for a win against the Pharaohs today. Good luck!

Eguavoen, encouraged by Pinnick is looking for excuses to fail. As the literate, Technical Director of Football in Nigeria he should know the rules about sending call-up letters to clubs. Because he was lobbying to get Rohr sacked he forgot his own duty

Mr (No)nonsense TD/Interim coach, please when are you going to slam yourself for your ignorance of FIFA and CAF rules…?

When are you going to slam yourself for spending your first 1st 12 days in office granting interviews and playing table soccer on YouTube until deadline for sending invitations elapsed right under your nostrils…..LMAOoooo. TWELVE WHOLE DAYS.

when are you going to slam yourself for not following closely the best Nigerian No 9 in the world at the moment, yet inviting inferior players with inferior performances from inferior leagues……1 goal 1 assist in 21 appearances winger for Osimhen…..half fit Ndah (directly responsible for close to half of the goals his team has conceded in 13 starts + 4 yellow cards already) for 2 goals and 4 assists Akpoguma and Bassey …..Silas Nwankwo for Ighalo, when Dessers is hitting 1 goal every 80 minutes this season in all competitions

When are you going to slam yourselves for these howlers…?

You want players who are earning to the tune of $300,000 per week (per month as the case may be) to fight their clubs the way you used to fight your own clubs 30 years ago when you were earning $300 per week…? Are you sane at all….??? Our people say a man who is on the floor has no fear of falling and hence nothing to lose. $300 pw VS $300,000 pw…..LMAOOooo.

These boys are footballers, not UFC fighters please. Be alive to your responsibilities instead of gallivanting around with SE Coach title and nobody will need to fight anybody.

I have said it repeatedly Eguafon is just an upgraded local version of the erstwhile clueless Rohr (a.k.a Belmadi’s trainee). No sensible coach would ever called a player playing Sunday-Sunday football game in Saudi over the better younger players that are playing in a serious competitive leagues in Europe like complete footballer Dessers and the wonder boy Akin Amoo .

    Eguafon you are daft and been economical with truth ; you did not need Igahalo in Afcon for football reasons, but only his Saudi Dollar because NFF as usual would be owing you as usual ;

How Igahalo could fooled you with your experience still baffles me to such extent wasting a slot for unpatriotic player that his time in SE is up . Immediately Osimeh is out of the team I knew Igahalo would not show up because he would be exposed and messed up if he were to lead SE.

I agreed with those that said they couldn’t take you serious as a coach as they do to Siasia who remains the best local coach but most hated by NFF because he is a coach that cannot be controlled by corrupt NFF or condone any form of indiscipline or rely on any player .

Afcon qualified you made Siasia to loose, in Olympic qualifiers you messed up, just as U17 of Mikel team and Siasia made the same Mikel team the world beater in U20 WC and at Olympic.

Any way , as a patriotic Nigerians we pray and urge our players to defend Nigeria nation with pride against the Pharaoh of Egypt

Long time @Sean. Happy new year my friend.

I just read the news now and I posted it on CSN on another trend but my question is, is it possible to replace Ighalo after today’s match and if so, this is a rare opportunity for Dessers.

Funny enough, Dessers scored when Okoye was on goal sometimes last year. That goal was painful because it came at the last minute of the match I think. Okoye wasn’t happy with that late goal scored by Dessers.

However, we can see now that blood is thicker than water, we all Nigerians. Please coach Eguavoen do something ooo. We want to see Dessers in Cameroon. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

Guys dont trust Pinnick and his crew, these goons properly took bribes from watford board regarding Dennis. These people are magas forget about all the fake news we read everyday, Pinnick and his bandit crews are making illegal deals everyday. Dennis and Ighalo were traded off for money.

  • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

NFF named Kanu and Jay Jay in the 9 wise men technical crew to lead the SE to Cameroon. As you read this, Kanu is in London, Okocha is in South Africa…..LMAOooo. Talk about “Virtual Technical Crew”…..LMAOOoo.

Confusion everywhere…! Everybody else by the NFF and their technical director are to blame and should be slammed for all the unprintable things happening in the SE right now….LMAOooo

Thank you very much NFF. Una do well o.

    • Dr. Drey 2 years ago

Apprently, Papilo and Jayjay have not been served their own invitation letters too….LMAooo

That is not enough to hide behind the keypad to abuse super Eagles head coach. It mightn’t be bellowing, may be he is still bitter. But we have a match today, aren’t we?

  • Is is called bellowing. You know ‘his own’ will never be appointed.

  • Ha…hahaha!i am just laughing and angry at the same time ….nff are really playing with us we super eagles fans, since nff has turned Egypt to become Argentina to super eagles and Salah is now Messi alright but my massage to nff like i said before super eagles must get to final or they should be prepare for sacking corrupted nff.

  • Bernard Ekele 2 years ago

@Jude Coker, oh! Because his own will never coach SE of Nigeria, so, he must be masking it all over the thread in the name of corruption. But my advise, kindly allow him continue since abusing others would make his own to be appointed. Remember our own is on that seat. I wish SE Good luck on today’s match. God bless Nigeria.

  • I will comment my reserve till will see the outcome of today’s match.

Seriously things have really been messed up.

  • ABDULRAZAK 2 years ago

Mr interim coach acting in cohorts with Pinnick and his journey men wanted Gernot Rohr out with absolutely no clue as to how to get the job done. Our interim coach was all over the place taking paper tactics and how he was going to build a dreaded squad. My people say ‘person wey dey take mouth drive motor no dey get accident’. Day of reckoning is here! Abeg, on a serious note, when is the winter Olympics stating in China? Hehehehehehe.

  • The problem with NFF as it concerns the super eagles is incessant changing of coaches. They should allow the local coaches to continue, results will certainly come. We must also not forget time is important to achieve good result. Good luck guys and makes you retain the winning mentality. God bless Nigeria.

    • Luke Omanaen 2 years ago

Even me o. I can’t understand why nff wants to bring Peseiro to disrupt the good work Egu is putting in place. With only few hours with the eagles, he won his first watch. The man really needs more time to revamp the eagles.

  • Can we stop the blame game and hatred talk. We have a match today. Rohr belongs to our past. Let’s move on. Some people can’t afford to see what they want support taken away from them. Rohr is gone. We have a match today

  • John-I 2 years ago

Sometimes I just read comments here and laugh, it’s a great comic-relief. It seems 98% of Eguaveon’s critics are Rohr’s supporters lol. Well, Rohr haters are receiving exactly what they sowed. Me I just dey enjoy the comments lol
