Emenike Clocks 33 Gets Birthday Wishes From CAF, NFF

CAF wrote on their handle with a short video clip of Emenike’s goals at the 2013 AFCON: “Today Nigeria’s Emmanuel Emenike @E29EMENIKE celebrates his 33rd birthday!

“The striker had a great 2013, winning the #TotalAFCON with @NGSuperEagles and was named top scorer too.”

While NFF wrote:”Happy birthday to #AFCON2013 top scorer, @E29EMENIKE.”

Emenike played for clubs like Karabukspor, Fenerbahce, Spartak Moscow, Al Ain, West Ham United, Las Palmas and Olympiakos.

On 27 August 2019, Emenike was on trials with Belgian 2nd division outfit K.V.C. Westerlo , for a potential contract.

And on 16 September 2019, he has signed with the club which made Westerlo his 10th professional club.

But on 14 November 2019, Westerlo released Emenike, after five games played for the club, due to “not bringing the level that both parties had intended” according to a statement from the club.

He made his Super Eagles debut in 2011, scored nine goals in 37 appearances before retiring from international football in 2015.

He was a member of the Eagles squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and was joint top scorer at the tournament.

Also, he featured at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and provided two assists.

Happy birthday bro. Missed your presence in the super eagles. Your early outing may have caused your poor performance in recent time. But in all we miss you.

  • Certainly one of Nigeria’s most lethal and consistent No.9’s. Broke into the team late and retired early (well done, Oliseh). I’ll class him in the league of the Aghahowas, Martins and Yekini.
