Arsenal have signed England-born Nigerian young defender Habeeb Ogunneye from Manchester United, completesports.com reports.
“We’re pleased to announce the signing of talented young full-back Habeeb Ogunneye,” Arsenal confirmed the signing on their official website on Sunday.
“Habeeb joins us with experience from Manchester United and Newport County, as well as England’s under-17s side.”
Speaking after completing his move to Arsenal Ogunneye said:”It feels great to be here, it’s such a big club.
“I’ve got family who live in Hackney, so it’s literally a full-circle moment. It’s fantastic [to have my family here].
“When I heard [Arsenal] were interested in me, I said to my agents it’s a no-brainer. Seeing all the young players that are coming through as well, so I just wanted to come straight away.

“I just wanted to be part of that group, and win games together. It’s good playing with good players, good defenders; it’s only going to better you.”
With plenty of experience already in his career, Ogunneye hopes to get off to a good start at Arsenal and take his game to the next level.
“[Now] I want to get better every day and we’ll see what happens from there.”
At age 15, Ogunneye debuted for the under-18 team of Manchester United and has played in the UEFA Youth League for the club’s youth academy.
Ogunneye is eligible to represent both England (through birth) and Nigeria (through heritage).
He has featured for the England U17 team, making three appearances between 2021 and 2022. As of 2024, Ogunneye faced a decision regarding his senior international allegiance, with both nations actively monitoring his progress.
England U21 manager Lee Carsley has publicly identified him as a “possible future star,” indicating The Football Association’s desire to secure his commitment.
