Unai Emery’s side dominated long stretches of the first half and thought they had seized the early initiative when captain John McGinn stepped up for a 15th-minute penalty following a VAR handball review, only for his spot-kick to crash agonizingly off the woodwork.
Villa eventually made their sustained pressure count shortly before the break, as Johan Manzambi set up Nicolas Jackson to sweep home a composed right-footed finish and give the hosts a deserved 1–0 lead heading into halftime.
However, Fulham showed great resilience after the restart and dragged themselves back into the contest midway through the second half when an unfortunate mix-up resulted in Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki turning the ball into his own net in the 64th minute.

Seeking a late winner, Emery turned to his bench with a triple substitution in the 66th minute, introducing Emiliano Buendía, João Gomes, and Ibrahim Mbaye.
Despite late surges from the hosts and a tense five minutes of stoppage time, Fulham’s defense, marshaled by Bassey, stood firm to preserve the draw and secure a valuable point on the road.
