Euro 2024: Germany Match On To Quarter-finals After 2-0 Win Vs Denmark

Hosts Germany are through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 after defeating Denmark 2-0 on Saturday.

Second half goals from Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala sealed the win for the Germans.

Nico Schlotterback thought he had given Germany the lead in the 5th minute but after VAR it was disallowed for a foul before a corner kick was taken.

The game was suspended with 10 minutes left due to lightening as English referee Michael Oliver instructed both teams to get off the pitch.

Three minutes into the second half it was Denmark’s turn to have a goal ruled out by VAR following an offside call against Joachim Andersen.

Just few minutes later Andersen was penalized for handling the ball with his hand as a spot kick was awarded to Germany.

Arsenal forward Havertz made no mistake as he planted the ball into the bottom left hand corner to make it 1-0 on 53 minutes.

Musiala then made it 2-0 on 68 minutes as he raced on to a long pass from Nico Schlotterback before slotting past the Danish keeper.

Germany will now face three-time European champions Spain or Georgia in the quarter-finals.
