Nasarawa United head coach Mbwas Mangut has expressed disappointment following his side’s 3-1 defeat to Barau FC, reports Completesports.com.
The Solid Miners endured a difficult start to their 2026/27 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, campaign after going down at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday evening.
Barau FC made a bright start to the contest, with Joseph Atule opening the scoring in the 15th minute.
Nasarawa United responded almost immediately as Abubakar Abdullahi drew the visitors level five minutes later after being set up by Mohammed Umar.

The game remained finely balanced until the closing stages, when Barau FC struck twice through Al’Amin Umar and Suga Aliyu to secure maximum points.
Mangut Rues Missed Chances
Despite the defeat, Mangut believes his players produced a good performance and were unfortunate not to make the most of the chances they created.
“My wards played better, but were unlucky to score from the avalanche of opportunities we had,” Mangut told the club’s media.
“It’s definitely not the way to start the new season, but we will analyse our mistakes, regroup, and bounce back stronger, beginning from our next match.”
Nasarawa United will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Bendel Insurance at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday, where they will be aiming to secure their first points of the campaign.
