Kun Khalifat Technical Adviser, Obinna Uzoho, has revealed that there was nothing particularly special about his team’s goalless draw against Abia Warriors in Sunday’s 2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL Matchday One fixture at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, Completesports.com reports.
The match was stopped in the 73rd minute after a heavy downpour rendered the pitch unsuitable for the continuation of the game.
The game resumed on Monday, with Kun Khalifat holding out for a goalless draw that earned them a point in the season’s opening fixture.
Kun Khalifat Focused On Better League Finish
Last season, Kun Khalifat held out for a goalless draw against Rangers at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, in their opening away fixture of the season.
This time around, the ‘Pride of Imolites’ again drew goalless with Abia Warriors in their opening game of the new season, having defeated the same opponents 2-0 in their corresponding 2025/2026 fixture in Umuahia.

Uzoho’s Kun Khalifat also defeated Enyimba 1-0 in their 2025/2026 Matchday Eight clash in Owerri. Yet, Uzoho refused to admit that his side now wears the ‘Oriental Derby Giants’ toga.
“No, it’s not about ‘Oriental Derby Giants’,” Uzoho responded in a calm and measured tone, carefully choosing his words.
“It’s about remaining calm, playing our game and trying to ensure that we finish higher on the final league table than we did last season.
Uzoho: We Take The Games One At A Time
“Last season, we won several Oriental games. We also won some other matches outside the Oriental Zone. So, we can claim to be Oriental Giants or hold any team’s key.
“We take the games one after the other. We’ve put the match against Abia Warriors behind us. For us, we’re now focusing on the next game, which is against Barau FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.”
