Abia Warriors are refusing to back down after launching a fierce appeal against what they have slammed as “excessive” NPFL sanctions following their fiery clash with Niger Tornadoes on October 25.
The disciplinary hammer fell hard on the Umuahia club, landing multimedia officer Chidera Favour Igwe with a five-match ban and slapping the management with a heavy ₦3.25 million financial penalty.

According to the NPFL, Igwe was punished for allegedly trying to sabotage the live television broadcast, while the club was also dinged for a supposed security breakdown.
But Abia Warriors have hit back hard, explaining that Igwe only asked the cameraman to reposition his lens toward the visitors after feeling targeted by an uncomfortably prolonged camera shot.
Demanding true justice, the club has challenged the league board to pull up the official broadcast footage and review what actually happened on the ground.

The club also laughed off claims of poor stadium security, pointing out the undeniable fact that Niger Tornadoes departed the arena safely without a single security hiccup.
With a breakdown of ₦1 million for security, ₦2 million for the broadcast dispute, and ₦250,000 for medical costs hanging in the balance, Abia Warriors are eagerly awaiting a fair review from the league bosses.
