Enyimba will look to extend their resurgence when they travel north to face Katsina United in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 8 fixture today, (Friday) at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
The People’s Elephant have finally turned the corner after a difficult start to the ongoing campaign.
After losing their first four games of the season, Enyimba are now on a three-game unbeaten run — two wins and a draw — that has lifted them out of the relegation zone.
The run includes a 2-0 win against Plateau United, a 4-2 hammering of Shooting Stars and 0-0 draw with Kano Pillars in Kano.
Speaking on Enyimba’s resurgence, assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu said the mood in Aba has changed.
“I am really grateful to the Enyimba fans for the massive support during our difficult times. The players have responded well by getting two victories and a draw to move away from the relegation zone,” Ukaegbu told Completesports.com.
“We’re going to Katsina United to play well by His grace, either we win or we pick a draw; losing the game is out of it.”
It’s evenly balanced historically — seven wins each and one draw in the last 15 meetings. But Enyimba won the last meeting 3-0 in Aba on April 12, 2026, while Katsina United won the last one in Katsina 3-2 in November 2025.
Katsina United come into today’s encounter with two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five — including a 2-1 comeback win over Doma United and 1-1 draws with Rivers United and Inter Lagos.
For Enyimba, another positive result today would make it four unbeaten and continue their climb up the table.
