Enyimba FC assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu has struck a defiant and optimistic tone ahead of his side’s crucial Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash against Katsina United on Friday, declaring that the People’s Elephant are traveling north solely to secure a positive result.
The Aba-based giants have managed to turn a corner following a difficult start to the campaign, stringing together an impressive three-game unbeaten run that included a resounding 2-0 victory over Plateau United over the weekend, a win that successfully lifted the club out of the relegation zone.

“I am really grateful to the Enyimba fans for the massive support the team has enjoyed during our difficult times in the league,” Ukaegbu stated.
“The players have also responded well by getting two victories and a draw to move the team away from the relegation zone.”

Looking ahead to Friday’s away fixture, the assistant coach made it clear that maintaining their upward trajectory is non-negotiable: “We’re going to Katsina United to play well by His grace, either we win or we pick a draw; losing the game is out of it.”
With momentum finally on their side, Enyimba will look to translate Ukaegbu’s bullish mindset into another stellar performance on the road as they continue their climb up the NPFL standings.
