Europa Round Of 32: Aribo, Balogun In Action As Rangers Net Five Past Antwerp; Osimhen’s Napoli Crash Out

Super Eagles duo Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo featured as Rangers booked their place in the round of 16 of the Europa League after defeating Royal Antwerp 5-2 in Thursday’s second-leg, Completesports.com reports.

Rangers progressed 9-5 on aggregate after winning the away tie 4-3.

Aribo saw 90 minutes of action while Balogun was replaced in the 46th minute.

Alfredo Morelos, Nathan Patterson, Ryan Kent, Borna Barisic (penalty) and Cedric Itten (penalty) were all on target for the Scottish Premiership table toppers.

Rangers can now look forward to the draw for the next round, with ties due to be played on March 11 and 18.

In Italy, Napoli, without Victor Osimhen managed to beat Granada, but the 2-1 win was not enough to overturn their 2-0 first leg defeat which saw them exit the competition.

It took under three minutes for Napoli to break the deadlock and halve the aggregate scoreline, as Piotr Zielinski surged forward through the centre, swerved to surprise Duarte and drilled in with his left boot from the edge of the box.

Granada had the ball in the net too moments later, but Puertas was a long way offside on the flicked-on free kick.

There was no flag on the equaliser, as Napoli made it too easy with no pressure on the Dimitri Foulquier cross or the Angel Montoro free header.

Fabian Ruiz made the most of a pass from Insigne to prod the finish past Rui Silva at the near bottom corner for 2-1 but could not get the two more goals needed to advance.

And in Spain, Villarreal progressed into the next round following a 2-1 win against Salzburg for a 4-1 aggregate scoreline.

Samuel Chukwueze saw action as he was introduced in the 66th minute for Paco Alcacer.

And in other fixtures, Arsenal edged Benfica 3-2 to advance 4-3 on aggregate, Ajax beat Lille 2-1, Molde beat Kevin Akpoguma’s Hoffenheim 2-0 in Germany and Shakhtar Donetsk pipped Maccabi Tel Aviv 1-0.

Solid performance from Peter Olayinka tonight for Slavia Prague against Leicester… Top 5 league chorusters… See a Czech Republic team dismantling a giant of the English premier league… football no be mouth. Peter Olayinka may not always have a goal in games but his overall contributions and workrate are always a joy for any coach who knows his craft… Can we say this MIGHTY and uncritiqueable Gernot Rohr knows better than Slavia Prague’s pragmatic and positive coach? Olayinka has never had the opportunity of even 5 minutes for Super Eagles… yet this guy performs every season in champions league or Europa League, never ever getting substituted by his coach… Let’s continue to allow an evidently tactically inept fraud to hoodwink us as a nation! Two quality players who will transform today’s Super Eagles into a fiercely positive team remains Junior Ajayi and Peter Olayinka… Who don play ball know the little details other superficial observers tend to ignore… Congratulations again Peter Olayinka, keep winning brother!

Oga Jimmy why u dey stress yourself. YOU know say dem be clique for national team. Don’t be surprised if you see MUSA invited and several undeserving players.

    • Mr man so u people can’t drop a comment here without mentioning the name of Mr Rohr u people have to grow mentally,

      • JimmyBall 8 months ago

@Ubah… Thanks for pointing me politely. But brother… What do we have and share with love as Nigerians if not just our football. We may not be the best in Africa now, not to even talk of the world… but we are passionate about football and have the mentality that no national team can and should easily roll over us… that’s why we back our teams with fierce passion that we can even attack each other with words as Nigerians for our team and not even see that as fighting… We know is all for the love of the game and how deep-rooted the sport is with Nigerians. Brother… We can never, or let me say some of us, can never stop throwing shots at Gernot Rohr because even Buhari sef the collect for our hand… So you see why?

        • Base on your first comment, does it mean SLAVIA PRAGUE is better than LECEISTER?

Or is your world best OLAYINKA better than our current wingers (MUSA, KALU, CHUKWUEZE, SIMON or even DENNIS)?

OLAYINKA/AJAYI are nigerians no, so the rest of our wingers aren’t nigerians right?

The way some of us reason or comment on this forum makes us feel sad & try to defend the defendless.

How can u be talking like this na?

Let this your 2 world best wing-striker-midfielder(according to u) move to a better league & let’s see how far they’ll go.

Corinthians defeated chelsea in 2012 fifa club WC, according to @Jimmy corinthian is better than chelsea.

Aston Villa whip Liverpool 7-2, according to @Jimmy Villa is better than LIVERPOOL.
INFACT THOSE GUYS THAT SCORED IN THAT MATCH ARE BETTER THAN LIVERPOOL PLAYERS IN THEIR NATIONAL TEAMS…(SEE OUR PROBLEM…(OUR REASONING IS JUST WEIRD).

SHEFIELD UNITED BEAT MAN UTD, ACCORDING TO @JIMMY SHEFIELD UNITED PLAYERS OF ENGLISH ORIGIN ARE BETTER THAN RASHFORD, MAGUIRE, GREENWOOD.

          Anyway;

          :::SHALOM:::

Don’t worry , when rohr is done with his term, u can take over from him and then invite all of your kindred to come and play for the super eagles. I think, that would serve u and mr chief scout ono9ja (not forgetting the miserable group of ex cricket internationals) better.

    • @Oakfield, responding to that guy is like a big waste of time, his brain has been set on “auto trigger” to senselessly accusing the person of GR, anytime football is mentioned.

Only 3 box strickers can be selected out 22 players at a time, and we have over 8 box strickers that are doing well, pls what criteria would u think the coach wi use to arrive at the required 3?

Or perhaps he would drop 2 goal keepers to accommodate more strikers?

Invite this, invite that, play this play that, how will a solid team be built? And you people are the one leading the critism of GR that has not been able to build a team for 5 years.

Who among you is talking of Dessers, onyeka, Emmanuel Dennis, even Josh Maja anymore? All of you didn’t allow the man a space then telling him of how the aforementioned guys were scoring in the sky. We can now see what they can offer now.

Nwakali that someone claimed is better than all our midfield can’t tie down a shirt at Huesca, not even good enough for bench until he was loaned out to division 2 club.

Most of this guys are just 1 match wonders, and we will begin to sing their song.

@Oakfield, ask him the best 3 he will select between, Moffi, Umar Saudique, Onuachu, Oshiemen, Ihenacho, Olayinka, Josh Maja? He should be honest

      • JimmyBall 8 months ago

@Ola… I no insult you so let this be the last time you try to slight me. Make your points quietly and leave. In case you have been watching rugby and not football. Peter Olayinka plays left midfield (left winger that drifts to middle to load midfield) often for Slavia prague… he is massively good at it with an elephantine workrate. Junior Ajayi plays similar role for Al-Ahly… so to correct you, they are not arrowheads or direct strikers. I will play an Olayinka ahead of an Iwobi on the left anyday, I will also select Junior Ajayi/lookman/Aribo to play attacking midfield (traditional 10)for me anyday. Samuel Kalu and Alex Iwobi will always start my games from the bench…

        • That’s exactly the reason you can never be a coach, since you benched IWOBI for Olayinka and Ajayi will your no 10, bravo! You will definitely win the world cup for Nigeria next year with your tactics

You don’t have to change your identity @Dr Drey. A lion never loses its spots. I will hunt you down and feed you to the flies whatever name you use. The revolution has started. Just apologise so you don’t feel my wrath.

      • @Oakfield and Ola una don start with this yeye behavior again, calling out kindred and the other one saying trash about someone’s comment when his own comment too is not justified as well. Stop insulting people including Nwakali go and do proper research about his story before you come here and insult people. This page is becoming a graveyard because of all this commotions. We for stop all this unnecessary hullabaloos.

        • Oga Bobby, read my comments very well and follow my tread to see if I do insult people or not. I replied to @Jimmyball that way because the guy has a mission, no matter the situation, he must find a way of denigrating GR and offering some funny advice to a seasoned manager like benching IWOBI for Olayinka. Sometimes you can’t help but reply such because you are sure he have an uterio motives behind their comments.

Secondly, I don’t need any investigation on Nwakali, because I don’t have any issue with the young man, rather with the people that are over hyping his personality.

I pray for the guy to rediscover his form in Jesus name.

Hahahahahha Slavia Prague defeated Leicester city and all of a sudden Czech republic league has become better and of higher standard than EPL/Bundesliga/Ligue 1 etc…..LMAO. That is how they celebrate once-off victories (Nigeria defeated Spain….Cameroon defeated Argentina…..Senegal defeated France) and boast they can will the 2022 World-cup…LMAO.

Olayinka more grease to your elbows…keep the all-round action coming, your time in the SE will surely come….but it can come faster if you move to a league of higher standard. Your links with Bayer Leverkusen in January fizzled off as quickly as it came. You are contending with the likes of Moffi, Awoniyi, Onuachu, Osimhen, Sadiq, Maja, Dessers etc for a place in the SE attack line. All these ones will have to prove they are incompetent first b4 you will get a chance if you remain in Czech republic. We can only but have 3 forwards in the team at a go.

@Ola….no mind dem. We will start inviting 11 forwards as from now on, since all Nigerian strikers in Europe must be called up.

@De.Drey… It’s so funny how you always write volumes just to get people to agree with you. Why don’t you try concise writing… I put down my views, I must not agree with yours! I will pick an Olayinka any day ahead of Moses Simon, they play differently but for their body of game… for me, Olayinka and Lookman should only be our choice on the left flank whether in a 5man midfield or 4man midfield… Just to tweak a little I could even coach Ademola to take up the No 10 role and play as an attacking midfielder… ask me why I think lookman can be a good modern attacking midfielder… 1.he is not easily disposessed off the ball. 2.He is a sound player with pinpoint vision. 3.He has a high work rate. 4.He has an eye for goal and shoots well. 5.He is incisive with accurate passes. 6.He reads the game very well. 7.He is a good dribbler. 8.He is fast, strong and witty. 9.He is a confident player. 10.His game maintains same tempo from start to finish… high workrate. This is a juicy proposition but Rohr still has mostly analog ideas… rigid, crablike and uninventful setups! Hahaha… Watch Rohr-Rangers come for me!

      • Abdul handsy 8 months ago

I love that piece about Ademola Lookman @jimmyball you are spot on: this has been my personal thought of him always bythe time he is free by FIFA to start his adventure with Nigeria.

Nigeria have a lot of players on the wings who are doing well for themselves at their club sides but in the super eagles they all need the complement of a good no.10 to explode the more in the current super eagles and here comes the name: Ademola Lookman.

Lookman is a suitable no.10 for the super eagles not forgetting others like Alex iwobi, Oviemuno Ejaria and the prospect of having nwobodo play in that position too but for me, Lookman is the real answer to the lingering question tag.

Some of these Nigerian-English players who wear the Nigerian jerseys on social media to deceive us that they really think about us never do so… They do so aimed at attracting the attention of Southgate but at end they will lament for NOT making proper decision at the right time.

Tosin Adarabioyo on my mind this morning:
        https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/02/26/tosin-adarabioyo-exclusive-interview-think-going-go-mad-run/

        • Dr. Drey 8 months ago

Hahahaha…[email protected] Once they start talking about focusing on their club careers….that’s the deal breaker for me. LMAO. My question always is that if it were England that 1st approached them, would they claim they want to focus on club careers first…??? And here someone is here rioting about Rohr inviting Akpoguma and Ekong over Adarbioyo…? Pls who spends money he doesn’t have with him when he has some in his pocket…?? Tosin would have played for SE since October friendlies, he has never represented England competitively at any levels, but bocs Southgate has been whispering sweet nothings in his hears as usual, now he claims he wants to focus on club career. I dont know how it is that people keep making mountains from molehills about things beyond immediate control….LMAO

    • JimmyBall 8 months ago

@Dr.Drey… Olayinka is not contending with anyone please, let’s not make it Olayinka versus Mr. So and so! In all honesty, did you see Olayinka playing centre forward yesterday? A few times he may played there… but his place is left midfield in a five man midfield setup which super Eagles plays… He operates often from the left wing helping in defence solidly on the flank and choking the middle when they need numbers to win balls and press quickly. Please don’t lump him in that outrightly in centre forward position. His game should be judge against the likes of Iwobi, Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon and lookman. For me as far as the now is concerned, an Olayinka should outrightly only share that left side of our midfield with Ademola Lookman… We can move Iwobi back to AM role in Super Eagles… The way lookman and Olayinka plays that leftside of midfield, no other candidate come close. Let’s stop using his club or league because people without clubs are still being considered in the mix. His club has challenged Barcelona, Inter Milan both previous seasons, and now the likes of leverkusen and Leicester and held their on fort well… So please top 5 chorusters should channel their energies to advising Odion Ighalo and Ahmed Musa instead and leave Peter Olayinka alone… He is doing superbly alright! Maybe we should pray for more Super Eagles players to move to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City and Bayern Munich as coach Rohr believes that’s when we can then stand any chance to dream decent performance in any championship… A man his age and having his analog level of tactless coaching won’t find job in any serious second tier team in Europe now… not to talk of any European national team. A Defeatist-minded coach

    • JimmyBall 8 months ago

@De.Drey… So in your own judgement, once Olayinka changes club, then he becomes deserving of a Super Eagles callup? Even Dessers that has not scored 3goals this season for sitting on the bench for Paul Onuachu who is not even a striker to you places above Olayinka in your own current mindset… Please help us classify Ahmed Musa with those you mentioned above… hahaha. People really getting frustrated with top-notch performance from players they fancy less that they have to find a way to make completely skewed and awkward comparison just to still shunt a good player in the background… brother start being objective. Nobody can put Olayinka’s performance and merit down… How many games are the likes of Iwobi and Samuel Kalu playing? We are not talking of directionless legovers and aimless ball-hugging talents here… Hahaha. @Drey will sweat untop of Olayinka matter today… Hahaha.

Mr Man…..and how is how I write your business…how is it your headache…why does it burn your stomach so much that people agree with what I write but do not agree with your own emotion-laden fallacies……LMAO. See Jealousy at its peak o….LMAO. I dont know anyone here from adam…If they agree with what I write, you too write what people will agree with….live and lets live. CSN the owners of this forum has not complained about the length of what I write, I am not using your device to type, I am not using your time to type, I am not using your Brain to type, I dont use your internet facility to access this forum, I didnt borrow money from you to get educated and informed enough to be able to write…..but you are feeling pains over what is none of your business. I can see you can no longer hide your fraustrations…..LMAOOoooo….na so body pepper you reach….LMAO. Talk ya own I talk my own naim make Ogborigogo district commercial community secondary school win Kings college for debate.

You will pick Olayinka ahead of Simon…congratulations…good for you. You are not the SE coach….someone else is. He prefers Simon ahead of Olayinka. Deal with that. Wait for your turn to become SE coach. Football you nor play (forget all those multidimensional lies that never add up that you always tell us here…..we are not deceived), Coaching you never coach anywhere for your life before, the super nitendo and SEGA games wey you dey play for house wey you go just pick and drop player anywhere na him make you think say you understand football……go and pick up a team and coach and wait for your turn to be SE coach then you can even play a cripple as centre forward with all these your juicy propositions….LMAO.

If you think Olayinka doesn’t need to progress in his career good for you. He can remain in Czech republic. Even players from Czech republic move to bigger and more competitive leagues to take their games to the next level. If a player like Tomas Soucek can leave Slavia to West Ham, tell your boy to superglue himself in Slavia. W Take it or leave it…Olayinka is a forward….not a winger…he is doin the same thing at slavia as Martial is doing at Man U, Werner is doing at Chelsea, and Aubameyang sometimes does at Arsenal – Centre forwards who attack from the flanks….it doesnt make them wingers, neither does it make them midfielders. Olayinka is no lookman, Olayinka is no Chuwkueze, Olayinka is no Zaha, Olayinka is no Saka or Pepe. Olayinka’s build and style of play is like that of a ragging warhorse suited for roving forwards. Olayinka ALWAYS roves from left to right to centre from his usual starting position which is on the left…the same roving freedom Westerhof gav Amokachi those days because of his workrate. Most coaches apply forwards with a high workrate to that effect. He is not a winger, he isnt speedy, he isnt tricky, he doesnt have quick feet, cant dribble out of tight spaces, or take on multiple defenders, does not have vison, a wide passing range, good crosses and neither does he have creative flair. OLAYINKA IS NOT A WINGER OR MIDFIELDER. HE IS A FORWARD…..simple and short. He will have to battle the likes of Taiwo, Terem, Sadiq, Paul Dessers for a place in the SE….and unless he has what all these guys do not have (apart from work rate), a 5 Bundesliga goals Awoniyi will always get called up ahead of a 6 goals Czech league Olayinka….same way a 10 Ligue 1 goals Moffi will catch the eye faster than a 6 goal Czech league Olayinka. When you are competing with people for the same things….your comparative advantage stands you out…and I am sorry, if it is about a Forward players attacking from the wings, there is nothing Olayinka is doing better than the others. It will still boil down to ‘turn by turn’. So if you like…rant on CSN from now till Jesus comes…they will have to be a monumental vacancy in the SE for your boy to get a place…Its a fact. Unfortunately for you, the national team does not play too many ‘unserious’ matches in a year for the team to be constantly tampered and experimented with. I dont need to ever talk about Ahmed Musa for now…..when any of these names you mentioned scores 4 goals in the world cup, then you can come and lets talk…moreover…the coach has always made it clear in his interviews that Musa has to sort out his club issues….its is because your hatred only allows you to read what you feel like reading or hear what you feel like hearing, that is why you and your cohorts come here to riot of statements of reality.

Rohr is an analog coach…..yes…we know…he is a tactless coach…yes we know…he is a senile coach…yes…we know….he is dumb….yes…we know…he is brainless….yes we know….you played at a higher level than him…yes …we know…..you coached at a higher level than him….yes…we know…..BUT he is still the coach with the highest win ratio EVER as coach of the Nigerian senior national team….LMAO……E never finish…?? LMAO. Not many coaches in the world can boast of ever reaching 60% win ratio. Not many. He may not get another job elsewhere…but at least he has a job. Pls where are you or your young, digital, Y2k compliant, bragadoccious, boastful, exuberant but INEPT AND INCOMPETENT african guadiolas who cannot even qualify for ordinary AFCON coaching at the moment…??? LMAO. If those ones were up to scratch, we wouldnt have gone for this analog and senile coach in the first place. He took up a challenge even Paul Le Guen felt was impossible…that is why he is Nigeria’s Coach till today. As tactless as he is….he has bailed us out of where even FIFA TSG members couldnt succeed and has met every target given to him by his employers till date. It is left for you to either dont kill yourself with High Blood Pressure or wait till he fails to meet the target given to him by his employers.

You claim I write volumes…..see the entire book chapter you wrote which does not make any sense….LMAO. I wonder how many minutes of precious time you just wasted just from prove that Olayinka should be starting in the SE ahead of Iwobi…..LMAO. You are even mentioning Adarabioyo and Lookman…players whom FIFA has not yet given us approval to use yet. Maybe Rohr should have called them up and get us banned or punished with points deduction just because you want him to prove a point to you. Its so funny how you know deep down Olayinka wouldnt bench any of the available forwards sho shou’ve shifted him to the midfiled to find space for him by fire by force…..LMAO. What desperation…! Olayinka must be paying you heavily for you to be able to turn logic so much under its head…..LMAOoooo.
Rohr owes you nothing…..he doesn’t owe you the satisfaction of your fantasies…he only owes you victories after victories for the National team and he will be the one to decide who and who he needs to achieve what and what he wants. He is not the 1st National team coach to snub Olayinka and will not be the last. Olayinka is not the 1st national team player to be snubbed and will not be the last. Nor go get stroke for another man headache o….LMAO. Live and let live. An Humble Advise…!

Because you humbled yourself, you are forgiven. Dr Drey is the one who has been banished into oblivion. This platform has been rid of his menace. He is now condemned to roam around cyberspace aimlessly for all eternity.

At this point I think only osihmen terem moffi olayinka iheanacho and sadiq are the real contenders, unuocho maja and awoniyi, for me are not convincing enough, despite they play in a stronger league, I still can’t connect them to the eagles, like the former above names, I don’t fancy sluggish tap in goal strikers, if you are not fast at list you go get shot, skills and strength. Olayinka have proven enough to get invitation

@Collins id… My brother thank you. Just put yourself in Peter Olayinka’s shoes. The guy has done everything and showed his overall body of game is a quantum of positive football. The guy see matches as war… fighting for his team mates and making their life easier… See in football what attackers, midfielders and wingers hate to do is track back and cover vital areas effortlessly… Olayinka is an engine of a human being, brother plays it simple and efficient, no time for tricks and fancy moves… his ball-hustle is just a beauty, when he muscled Soyuncu cleanly off the ball yesterday with running for direct line to the goalkeeper yesterday I just smiled… Imagine having a guy like that assisting Ndidi and Etebo to create tough encirclements in midfield when needed, all those our sloppy midfield loose balls wey the likes of Mahrez and Bennecer the use clip our wings no go the pass our head… I did not watch Peter Olayinka play up to five times before I concluded this guy is a jewel… he is a Mourinho kind of player. I will continue to pray for that young lad…

Dr Drey is persona non grata on this platform. He never respects his elders and for that he must cry.
Never mention his name on this platform again unless you want to join us join him in the abyss.
