European Super League Dead On Arrival – Drogba

Former Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba says he’s delighted with the failed European Super League project.

Drogba, who will always be remembered for scoring the last penalty that earned Chelsea their first UEFA Champions League trophy in 2012 stated this via his official twitter handle on Thursday.

The Ivorien international said that it was a big delight for the fans and football world that the European Super League fail to see the light of the day.

Recall that Premier League teams such as Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Man United, Man City, Liverpool, and other big clubs in Spain and Italy have withdrawn their proposal to participate in the Super League.

Drogba noted: “Promotion, relegation, unexpected results is what drives the emotions of the game, Being together, as players, as fans… that’s what makes it the beautiful game. “Little” @EthnikiOmad beating the “big” @selecaoportugal a few years ago, @kkcrvenazvezda beating my team @OM_Officiel.

“Or even @LCFC working hard to win the @premierleague title in front of the “big four” is what makes football the beautiful game. Imagine all this effort and not being allowed to compete against other teams because you’re not one of them despite playing the same game.

“Is a kind of discrimination. I’m glad this project is not happening for the sake of the beautiful game and our amazing fans all around the world.”
