Everton Must Be On It – Keane

Michael Keane is hopeful the combination of a partisan crowd and a better attacking display will see them get the better of Chelsea. The Toffees dug in for a goalless draw when the two teams met at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season and are now hopeful of getting the better of the west London outfit when they visit Merseyside on Sunday.

Everton’s last home fixture ended in stalemate as well as they held Liverpool and Keane says he wants a repeat of the derby atmosphere, believing it played a massive part in them getting a point from the game with their local rivals.

The 26-year-old, who was named in the England squad on Wednesday, believes Everton can bounce back from last weekend’s 3-2 loss at Newcastle by getting the better of Chelsea, but admits they will have to improve several aspects of their game.

“We have played really well against Chelsea and defended strongly,” Keane told evertontv. “They are a good team with a lot of top-quality players, so we will have to be really on it like we were against Liverpool. “Hopefully we can score a few goals, as well, and win the game.

“The derby was the best atmosphere I’ve played in at Everton. When the fans are like that it really helps us – but we know we have to play well to get them behind us even more. “We will do everything we can to make sure we do that, we are really hungry for a win and need to beat one of the top teams at home – and we want to do that on Sunday.”
