Everton Sign Iwobi From Arsenal On Five-Year Deal

Alex Iwobi has signed for Everton from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a five-year deal until the end of June 2024.

The 23-year-old forward is the Blues’ seventh and final signing of the summer transfer window following the additions of goalkeeper Jonas Lössl, right-back Djibril Sidibe, midfielders Andre Gomes, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and striker Moise Kean.

Nigeria international Iwobi, who has 36 caps and helped his country to the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals this summer, came through Arsenal’s academy before making his first-team debut for the Londoners in October 2015 at the age of 19.

Everton manager Marco Silva said: “Alex was one of our main targets for this window and I believe he is a fantastic signing for Everton. He is a direct and skilful winger and attacking midfielder who always works very hard for his team.

“He is still young but already with a lot of top-level experience – 100 Premier League matches, more in Europe and many international games.

“It was important for me to have one more quality option for our attacking positions to add to what we have with Richarlison, Bernard and Theo Walcott.

“Alex fits exactly the profile of player I want in my model. He is hungry to join Everton and take the next step in his career, to help us compete with the strongest teams in the league and reach his potential at our club.”

Iwobi, the nephew of Nigerian legend Jay-Jay Okocha, was born in Lagos, Nigeria before moving to England when he was four. Iwobi played 149 games for Arsenal, scoring 15 times and contributing to 42 goals.

  • Arsenal’s best dribbler,I wish you well bro. You left my team for my second team,so no p.
Seriously,I think you are a bold, decisive young man.A Mikel won’t do what you just did,he just allowed Mou “destroy” him.
They bought Pepe,so that would reduce your game time. Even, you’ve boldly stated that you are not a winger in the real sense. I don’t think Emery wants to try you at your preferred position, so it’s best you move on. You were even bolder than I envisaged,I would have advised a lone move, but I believe you read Arsenal’s mind well. They were not so bothered losing you. In you sir, they have lost something.

I love that you choose Everton, though I’m not happy what Crystal Palace did to Zaha,Everton offered good money and two players in exchange for him. Haba.
Well that failed attempt made way for you,Iwobi. The worrying thing is the wing matter again. Iwobi is brought in to do a Zaha. However,I prefer this to the Arsenal situation. I know Everton’s coach is by far more flexible than Emery,so Iwobi could eventually enjoy his preferred central role and even when he plays on the wings,he would be given more freedom than at the Gunners. I like how this young man thinks,he wants game time and he seizes the opportunity and Everton is a great team right now. Ahmed Musa are you still in Qatar? A captain of the Super Eagles?

    Anyway,well-done Iwobi,Zaha please bear inugo?

It’s emotional seeing him leave but the move is the right one for him which arsenal will regret cus I damn sure that Nicolas pepe will flop. Alex will blossom to a household name in merseyside.

Meanwhile, musa’s days is numbered in the super eagles and I urge the nff and Rohr to get lepizigs new signing lookman asap as his replacement. Another chap to look out for is hamburg’s new signing xavier Amaechi. The kid is da bomb

  • Nice move for Iwobi, all stupid Asenal fan that never saw how good you are, can go and hug transformer.
