Ex-Leicester Boss Pearson Appointed Success’ New Manager At Watford

Nigeria forward Isaac Success will be working under a new manager at Watford, following the appointment of former Leicester City handler
Nigel Pearson who will be in charge until the end of the season.

Watford announced Pearson’s appointment on Friday in a statement released on their official website.

Pearson will take charge following this weekend, with Watford U23 coach Hayden Mullins remaining at the helm for Saturday’s match against Crystal Palace.

He replaces Quique Sanchez Flores, whose second spell in charge at Vicarage Road ended on Sunday when he was sacked less than 90 days after being re-appointed.

The statement from Watford on Pearson’s appointment reads in part:”The Hornets are pleased to confirm the appointment of Nigel Pearson as Head Coach on a contract that runs initially until the end of this season.

“The 56-year-old will take up his post after the weekend, with Hornets’ Under-23s coach Hayden Mullins remaining in interim charge for Watford’s Premier League home fixture against Crystal Palace tomorrow (Saturday December 7).

“Pearson has a wealth of managerial experience. He drove a successful bid for post-promotion Premier League survival with a run of seven victories in nine games at the end of the 2014/15 campaign, having secured his side a top-flight place during the previous season.”

Pearson’s appointment marks a first return to the Premier League since he was sacked by Leicester in June 2015, having kept the club in the Premier League after leading them to promotion from the Championship a season earlier.

Since his departure from Leicester, Pearson has had spells with Derby and Belgian side Oud-Heverlee Leuven, from where he was sacked in February.

Watford are currently bottom of the Premier League after just one win in 15 games this campaign, which has seen the club dismiss both Javi Gracia and Sanchez Flores.
