Exclusive: 2021 AFCON: Super Eagles Must Be Wary Of Sudan, Guinea-Bissau -Amuneke

Former Nigerian midfielder, Emmanuel Amuneke has urged the Super Eagles to be wary of the threat that Sudan and Guinea-Bissau will pose in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The three-time AFCON champions are pitted alongside seven-time champions, Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau in Group D.

Nigeria will commence its campaign against the Pharaohs on January 11, a game that could decide who tops the group.

However, Amuneke in a chat with Completesports.com said that the Super Eagles should not feel too comfortable that they will qualify easily from the group.

The 1994 AFCON winner stated that the team must take each game like a cup final regardless of who they face.

“On paper, the Super Eagles look pretty good to qualify from a group that consists of Egypt, Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau based on the caliber of players we have at our disposal.

“However, since football is not mathematics, it will be better for Gernot Rohr to prepare for each game like a Cup final without focusing too much on Egypt.

“I really believe the team can make Nigeria proud if they remain focused and determined as they progress from one stage to another.”

Now u sound like a real ex international, not like the other one who was trying to claim Alex fegurson the other day. Sure, they won’t underate any team. They must have learnt a bitter lesson from the Madagascar experience. God willing, we shall bring back gold this time around and haters shall have their miserable tail in btw their legs.

Why do ex-eagles always warn to beware of this team and that team instead did giving us expert analyses

Amuneke must be an assitant coach because he can read the matches so well and he can sentimate the players pysicologically and physically; also he put a suitable player in suitable place just he can mix Onyeka with Ndidi on defensive midfield ,also he can mix Awaziem with Balogun on center back; he can put a proper tactic which wiil help Super Eagles to win any match…

@ako amadi e tire me too ooo.
I’ve never heard one ex-international give acute analysis. Instead, they just keep saying the obvious. Which one is ” Rohr should not underestimate Guinea” – like I mean, who doesn’t know that!?!
When we say they should go and improve their CV some people would start shouting. But it is obvious these people don’t know jack. Just read Rio Ferdinand and Sol Cambell analysis – deep, clear and accurate. Not “they are not playing like a unit”, national teams rarely play like a unit (for godsakes) especially when compared to clubs. The ones that seems to play like a unit are those top five nations with the best leagues. That give them an advantage ahead of others because a large bulk of their players are plying their trade under the same umbrella. Not the one you bring a player from Spanish football, where he has mastered touching-kind of game; then you bring one from a low team in Denmark, where all he knows is “kick the ball away from your defense” style of play; etc.
What we want from our ex-international is logical analysis that enumerate and dissect the issues at hand. Not irrelevant statements like “they should work hard” no o, they will party all week. Nonsense

    • @Kingston… No break my ribs with laughter abeg.. Lolz thumbs up my man

Hahahaha….”Rohr must play fit players”, “Rohr must assemble the team early enough”, “Rohr must play 11 players”, “Rohr must start Victor Osimhen”, “Rohr must avoid playing without a goalkeeper”, “Rohr must know tomorrow is Wednesday”, “Rohr must know Christmas comes in December”…… LMAOOOO.

What else do you expect to hear from people with CVs as blank as a freshly cut A4 paper….. LMAOOOO.

  • @oakfield no body hate your father.all we are doing here is for the progress of our national team. the pure truth is that your father can not take the super eagles to the promise Land.if Amunike will do better if given the opportunity your father has been enjoying for years.

What opportunity has your father being enjoying all these years….???

NFF asked him to qualify a team ranked 70th in the world for world cup….he did it with a 5 point lead and a game to spare.

NFF asked him to reach semifinals of 2019 AFCON he missed the final by a hair’s breadth and produced the top scorer both in qualifying and the tournament proper.

NFF asked him to qualify the team for 2021 AFCON and 2022 world cup…..he completed the first task with TWO GAMES to spare and is sure to complete the second one.

Your magician Amunike that will perform better was demoted from 1st team caoch to academy coach in an unknown quantity club like el maqqassa within the space of 1 month and sacked by Tanzania for winning just 2 official games all through his tenure.

      Abeg make we hear word.
