Exclusive: 2023 FIFA U-20 WC: ‘Flying Eagles Can Survive Group Of Death If’…–Babangida

Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida believes the Flying Eagles has what it takes to qualify from the ‘Group of Death’ that pitted the team alongside Brazil, Italy and Dominican Republic in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Recall that the Nigerian team secured their place in Argentina after they finished 3rd in the 2023 U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt

Twice, the Flying Eagles have reached the final in 1989 and 2005. In the latter, the West Africans lost to 2-1 to a Lionel Messi-inspired Argentine side.

Reacting to the draws, Babangida in a chat with Completesports.com stated that the Ladan Bosso-led team must learn from the mistakes at the African championship in order to make an appreciable impact.

He also urged Bosso to select based on merit ahead of the tournament.

*Yes, the Flying Eagles have been placed in what I will tag a group of death. Playing against teams such as Brazil, Italy and Dominican Republic, the Flying Eagles must ensure they are at their best to beat these teams.

“Selection will be key because the coach must avoid the mistakes he made at the African tournament if Nigeria must progress from this group.”

What were the mistakes?Making his flaws known could be helpful because it’s easy to see the flaws of others. But hard to see one’s own .
Highlight his mistakes, reach out to  him if you can.A positive action could help.

    • One big flaw was his choice of personnel. People who can’t finish off teams. Sadly bulk of those personnel are in his latest team list. Nigeria is going nowhere. Old men claiming under 20 cannot outsmart the agility of the real under 20 when they face them. They are crashing out after 2 matches. You can’t give what you don’t have

They can survive if they sack Ladan Bosso and hire a competent coach. If not, Ladan Bosso will still carry his Agbalaka and Co and disgrace Nigeria. I won’t mind if he’s immediately replaced with Nduka Ugbade or Manu Garba.

Guys didn’t you watch Ugbade’s team in Ghana? Very exciting display from all-round technically gifted youngsters.

  • Nobody survives drowning in deep water if they cannot swim.Flying Eagles need prayers and luck!

Prayers don’t play ball. Players with the right mentality, dedication, skills, original talent with smart IQ wins matches. Big task ahead.

  • We have the players, the problem is that our coaches keep chasing the winds with selection of the players. This is very unfortunate.
