Nagelsmann Withdraws From Race To Become Chelsea Manager

Julian Nagelsmann has pulled out from the race to become Chelsea manager, talkSPORT reports.

Nagelsmann has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea following his dismissal at Bayern Munich earlier this year.

While Nagelsmann was viewed as a leading contender for the role, it’s understood that he disagreed with the Blues over ‘certain points’.

Meanwhile, the Blues sensed he wanted to be handed the role and not go through the hiring process, therefore he is no longer in the running.

Former Spain and Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique also held talks with Chelsea earlier this month but is out of contention.

Todd Boehly is searching for a permanent replacement for Graham Potter, who was sacked from his position earlier this month.

While Frank Lampard is in caretaker charge, the club are pulling together a shortlist to take the job on a permanent basis.

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has now emerged as the favourite having held positive discussions with Chelsea chiefs in recent weeks.

The Argentine is out of work after leaving Paris Saint-Germain last July, and has also been linked with a return to Spurs.

Burnley boss and former Manchester City captain, Vincent Kompany, is also one of the names under consideration at Chelsea following an impressive campaign with the promotion-winning Clarets.

Chelsea are currently in 11th in the Premier League, with their disastrous season being capped off with their recent Champions League exit.
