Exclusive: ‘4-0 Defeat To Portugal Not The Best Of Result For Eagles’ –Babangida

Former Nigerian winger, Tijani Babangida has expressed disappointment with the performance of the Super Eagles in their 4-0 loss to Portugal in an international friendly game.

Portugal took the lead through Manchester United midfield maestro Bruno Fernandes in the 9th minute.

Bruno would later convert from the penalty spot in the 37th minute to cap off a domineering first-half from the A-Selecao in Lisbon.

Two-quick fire goals Goancalo Ramos and Joao Mario in the 82nd and 84th minute completed the rout for Portugal over the former Africa champions who won’t be at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Reacting to the team’s performance, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist told Completesports.com that the players gave their host too much of room to operate.

“This is not the best of result I expected from the Super Eagles. They allowed Portugal to take total control of the game and were rightly punished.

“This sort of result doesn’t help the confidence of the team and I feel so disappointed that we lost 4-0 to Portugal.”

Na so-so mouth, shakara and hairstyle Super Eagles get, dem no sabi play anything. Watch how Ghana will take this same Portugese side to cleaners on 24th.

Super Eagles were so useless that I felt like pulling some players out from the TV to whip their buttocks. Absolutely arrogant but useless/talentless footballers. This has to be Nigeria’s poorest Super Eagle squad in history. No talent whatsoever, yet they’ll make the loudest noise mtcheeew.

Victor Osimhen was smart enough to avoid these set of headless-chickens! I don’t blame him at all.

And for that Emmanuel Dennis, I always knew he was very useless, àfter that purposeless, visionless and disgraceful display in Abuja against Ghana. Pesin wey him country dey find one goal to qualify for World, him dey dia dey dribble himself.

That Bassey guy sha. The less said about him the better. He’s one of the reasons Ajax conceded loads of goals in ChampionsLeague, horrific defender.

    Ekong? Mtcheeew abegi.

Ndidi? Complete shadow of his old self. Nigeria need a better DM, someone similar to Thomas Partey.

Moses Simon? That one think say him dey play ‘Monkey post’.

The coach is the most useless of them all. Should be sacked immediately.

Finally, I want to apologise for ever supporting Rohr’s sack. Peak-Milk or Amaju Pinnic should just get lost!

@JOHN-I THANK YOU for finally seeing the LIGHT that the SACKING of GENERAL ROAH was BAD..

      Thanks for owning up.

      Na MAN you be…

I WISH other POMO MEN like their UGO will be a MAN and APOLOGIZE too

My brother, the truth will set us free. NFF goofed by sacking Rohr and replacing him with Pep-Eguavon lol. That’s the genesis of all this mess.

      • mikee 1 year ago

Was Rohr a coach, please forget him. The fall of the eagles stated when they fire the late Keshi after taking Nigeria to the second round of a world cup, the same achievement Westerhof accomplished and Nigerians rate him as the best coach ever. That eguaveon failed was predictable, he was not given enough time like the Oyibo coaches. Rohr was a total waste of money and time. Pinnick wanted an oyibo coach by all means hence he went for second rate Rohr. If he was a good coach he would have been hired by some country or club by now. We need a Nigerian coach who has some thing at stake. These white coaches are just here for the paycheck.

Where is Rufai and Technical director Eguavoen? now they’ll not come and speak or the new president Gambo Gusau, weirdos are now in the hide. Football like I said in one of my post has become a game dishonesty and mockery for the upright. It’s high time that we as a nation channel our energy into other meaningful things and let the NFF and our so called superstars continue their business. I remember how Ghanaians boycotted their football team after an honorific World Cup when players and officials showed less patriotism to the extent that some players were seen kissing money even after national team exits. It took a serious upturn of performance before they were able to win back their fans. As Nigerians if we avoid praising these guys even though they score 100goals at clubsides then by that time things will change when they show up at national team. Else NFF, Coaches and players like Osimhen Dennis and co will just be taking Nigerians for granted.

The truth is that some of us are like the devil. He knows the truth but does not want to abide in it.Rohr’s sack is the reason we are in this very unbearable and avoidable situation.pride will not allow some people accept simple cause and effect theory that has been proven for centuries. The key to rising is first recognizing and accepting the cause for your fall.

The NFF must go back to the drawing board. Her modus operandi has been too haphazard and not results oriented. Seek the cooperation and contribution of all parties and not think of ostracising and sanctioning player as suggested by some people.

The culture of owing players and coaches must stop. If legislators who do practically nothing  than fomenting problems are paid REGULARLY, why can’t the coaches and players be paid? These aberrations affect players confidence.

  • Well, I use to be angry when this team is called super chiken. However, I am personally adopting that name until I see changes. Bunch of overhyped idiots. Just watch how your careers will nosedive, except for Iwobi and the new guys.

I swear. Utterly disgraceful display. The truth is we ain’t going nowhere with these guys – nowhere. We need a new direction with new crop of players.

Dosu, akpoborie,Nwosu oya una turn don reach

  • NFF all we need is to bring back Rohr before it too late this talent that we have will go to waste. All Nigeria need Need and Rohr he understands our players also know how to get them from the clubs. Germans are very wise technically and tactically.

New President off NFF and Sports minister Dr Dare Go bring back Rohr, Rohr follows our and matches that’s he still love this country Nigeria, trust me Rohr is still waiting for you guys to call him back. Don’t be too prideful NFF cuz nemesis has cash up on you all

    • mikee 1 year ago

Thunder fire you for saying bring Rohr back. You guys forgot how we lost to Central African republic in lagos and how cape verde almost embarrassed us here in lagos too under Rohr. The payers did not select themselves, the coach selected them but most of you are shy in blaming the coach because he is white. If we are going to loose with foreign highly paid coaches we might as well get one of our own to loose with.

  • Coache 1 year ago

The foreign players don’t feel threatened because they will feature on match day unchallenged. Go back to the days of Keshi and Siasia, start camp with homebased professionals for two weeks. When foreign come, they slug it out and you pick the best. This disgrace will stop.

Don’t tell me which home based, because both home based and foreign pros lost all friendly matches scandalously..We.need the best of TWO evils.

Bring Back Rohr!!!!! It was never bad like this under him.

We never conceded 3 unreplied goals under him, not to even talk of 4.

Bring Back Rohr. Let all those sentimental and idiotic fans go and die.

We were always topping our groups and qualifying for tournament under Rohr. If Rohr was the coach Portugal won’t dare beat us 4–0

If Rohr was in charge is a sure bet we would have been in Qatar. And we won’t have been disgracefully bundle out of the Nations cup in round of 16
