Exclusive: After Federation Cup Win, Unuanel Tips Bendel Insurance For NPL Title Next Season

Former Kwara United coach, Samson Unuanel has expressed delight with Bendel Insurance win over Rangers in the final of the Federation Cup.

Recall that Bendel Insurance defeated 10-man Rangers 1-0 to win the 2023 Federation Cup trophy at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Wednesday night.

Imade Osehenkhoe scored the winning goal from the spot late in the first half.

It was the Benin Arsenal’s fourth Federation Cup title and their first in 43 years.

Reacting to the feat, Unuanel told Completesports.com that the Edo State club side have put themselves back to the limelight of Nigerian football.

He noted that this victory will also propel the team to win next season’s Nigeria Premier League title.

“I am so delighted that Bendel Insurance defeated Rangers to win the Federation Cup. The team has been outstanding since the beginning of the season and could have won the NPL title as well.

“The players have put themselves and the team back to the limelight of Nigerian football. This will serve as motivation to win the NPL title next season.”

  • Congratulations to you guys Bendel insurance. You lots have done very well and have made us really proud. We know where football is played in Nigeria and Bendel is definitely one. Please no slacking going into next season. Odigie who to me is one of the best local coaches in Nigeria but very humble and never assuming, should focus on fashioning out an attacking method that produces lots of goals for the team. From my observation, it lies with players wrong position in front of opponents goal as well as bad shooting techniques.
