Former Nigerian winger, Tijani Babangida says he’s optimistic the Super Eagles will fare better against Costa Rica in Thursday’s international friendly game at the National Stadium in San Jose. (Kickoff time: 3am Nigerian Time)
While the Super Eagles will not be in Qatar, they will look to put together a fine run of form ahead of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game against Serie Leone.
Costa Rica are currently unbeaten in four straight games, claiming one draw and three wins, including a 2-0 victory over Martinique in Group B of the CONCACAF Nations League on June 5.
Nigeria head into Thursday’s game on a run of just two wins in their last 11 outings across all competitions, losing seven and claiming two draws since January’s 2-0 victory over Guinea Bissau in the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, in a chat with Completesports.com, Babangida, stated that the Super Eagles will be determine to impress against Costa Rica.
“I am delighted that the the Super Eagles are playing quality friendly games to prepare them for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The game against Costa Rica will definitely be a good one for the Super Eagles and I am optimistic they will fare better.
“Most importantly, we want to see the team play quality football that Nigerians will be happy with and I hope to see that on Thursday.”

Ndi ara Na so una go dey make mouth like Kolo mental patients. Farewell how with NPFL Players who cannot even qualify for Group stage of CAF against Costa Rica world Cup bound team. Okay o . unu nile bu anumpama. Mtcheew!!
And CSN make it clear this is Super Eagles C Squad that is persecuting this games not our A team. Thank you!
The A team will be on display against Portugal let us get our Article Headings on Point. Dalu nu ooo!
This is where corruption brought this country to. Our C team against a world cup team ba? NFF, thank you for doing this to Nigeria.
As a nation, Nigeria haven’t learned from the past mistakes and we continue making the same mistakes.
Are we ready for change? Hmmmm mba, I don’t think so.
We are not sincere with ourselves, we are not transparent as a nation so, this is the result we will be getting until we change the way of doing things in Nigeria.
Mind you Mr. Babangida, what is the purpose of playing this match with Costa Rica?
Is it local to play our C team while Costa Rica will present their A team?
A world cup team with our C team with Salisu Yusuf in charge again?
Are we moving Nigeria forward or backward?
This is very frustrating kę.
Nothing is running smoothly in this country but corruption is the only reliable source of income for our leaders/people in charge of anything concerning Nigeria. It is a shame.
No wonder so many Nigerians are running out of the country.
I am deeply sorry for Nigeria. NFF have no shame. Why Yusuf in charge of national team?
Other African countries can not do such why Nigeria?
Again, what is the purpose of this match? If we don’t present our A team?
I am worry about the future of Nigeria. Even against Portugal, is it guarantee that our A team will play the match? God, help us deliver Nigeria from our oppressors. Nigerians please wake up and take your
country back in 2023. We can not continue like this. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Do you guys realised that the npfl is yet to start and both rivers and plateau united are involved in continental competition, more so the game against Costa Rica is not with in fifa window, so clubs are not bound to release their players.
Nigeria just have to do with what they have and the best is the current u23 and/plus available active player(s).
Costa Rica needs the match more than we do. While Nff need the appearance fee.
“Nigeria head into Thursday’s game on a run of just two wins in their last 11 outings across all competitions, losing seven and claiming two draws since January’s 2-0 victory over Guinea Bissau in the Africa Cup of Nations”
This is astonishing. As the Falcons were/are, so are the Eagles?
Those are not credentials of giants. Are the mighty going into oblivion?
Mighty is a self procalaimed name by Egotistical Nigerians, Nigeria is Not Giant of Africa in Football any longer, Corruption Quota System and out right BS has Derailed our Ball very very Badly!
AGAIN Nigeria/Nigerians is Nigeria’s Biggest problem and will alwyas be so until devine intervention from the all mighty and this is not just in ball matters but most importantly all Facets of life and Society.
Hope this news is true God…. https://yegob.com/los-blancos-live/madrid-identify-ideal-benzema-replacement/
