EXCLUSIVE: ‘I’ve Never Seen Anything Like Nigeria Vs Ghana Rivalry’ —Lookman

Ademola Lookman admitted he has never seen anything close to the rivalry between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana.

Lookman made his debut for the Eagles when he came on in the second half of the 2022 World Cup qualifying playoffs between the Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana in Kumasi on Friday.

The tensed encounter which was played in front of over 60,000 fans, ended goalless with all to play for in the reverse fixture on Tuesday inside the Moshood Abiola stadium.

And reflecting on the encounter, Lookman described the atmosphere inside the Baba Yara stadium which hosted the derby between the Black Stars and the Eagles as amazing.

He also described his debut for Nigeria as beautiful.

“Making my debut for the Super Eagles was beautiful,” the Leicester forward, on loan from RB Leipzig told Completesports.com in an exclusive chat after the team’s training session on Saturday.

“The atmosphere in the Kumasi stadium was really amazing I’ve never seen anything like it.”

And looking forward to the second leg on Tuesday, the former Everton player said it will be another difficult tie but posited that the Eagles will be ready for the clash.

“It’s going to be another tough game, another battle, another fight but we will be ready.”

The Eagles need an outright win to secure a seventh appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

A score draw will be enough for the Black Stars to qualify for a fourth World Cup since their debut in 2006.

Yes, it’s a healthy and brotherly rivalry. The two teams should not have been paired because both teams could represent the continent well at the WC. Come tuesday, the mighty Black Stars will defy all odds to qualify for the world cup.

Senegal and Egypt will not represent Africa well right? Where we have two top Africa players. What of Cameroon and Algeria

      • Abdul 2 years ago

Well, Egypt didn’t really achieve anything in their previous WC appearances.

It will be very sweet if Ghana could repeat the 7-0 5-1 and the 4-1 scorelines

Scoreline of useless friendly games lol. This is World Cup qualifier. In 2002, it ended in 3-0 spanking!
