Exclusive: Peseiro Blessed With Array Of Quality Strikers In Eagles –Akpoborie

Former Nigerian striker, Jonathan Akpoborie believes Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro is blessed with an array of quality strikers in the senior national team.

Akpoborie made this known on the backdrop of the team’s 10-0 drubbing of Sao Tome in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Monday.

Osimhen was set up by Simon for the opener in the ninth minute and returned the favour in the 28th minute before the Napoli forward laid on the third for Terem Moffi two minutes before the break.

Nigeria carried on where they left off in the second half as Osimhen grabbed his second three minutes after the restart and Watford midfielder Peter Etebo netted a powerful free-kick in the 55th minute. Moffi bagged his second on the hour mark and Lookman quickly made it 7-0 three minutes later.

Osimhen completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute then netted his fourth with six minutes remaining and Dennis rounded off the scoring with an injury-time penalty to the delight of his teammates.

Reacting to the quality of strikers in Peseiro’s disposal, the former Wolsburg star told Completesports.com that the Portuguese tactician will be delighted having Osimhen, Lookman, Dennis, Moffi and Dessers and others as strikers.

“Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro will be glad to have been blessed with an array of quality strikers in the team. The strikers display against Sao Tome is an indication of what to expect from them, most especially if the right players are fielded for a particular game.

“Having players such as Osimhen, Moffi, Lookman, Dennis, Dessers and Sadiq gives a coach a self assurance of scoring goals in any giving match. Mind you, a few of them are playing together with the team second or third time.

“There is no doubt that Peseiro has plenty to select from and I hope he will continue to base his selection on merit.”

Akpoborie, the fact of the matter is that the Eagles need healthy and quality competition in every position and this can only be possible with the removal of Picnic..
GR was doing good in his first 2 years until he allowed picnic to infect his team with corrupt practices (Mikel and Moses got upset with the invasion of agents and Picnic’s overbearing interference).
The presence of Bassey, Semi, Akpo, and Ndah will make the CD stronger and tye Oyibo wall will know there are better options.
Give Adeleye and other deserving GK a chance to play and Uzoho/Okoye will get better..
Give Samuel & VM, Ebuehi opportunities to challenge Aina, Bassey and Sanusi..
Give Alhassan, Dele Bahiru, Ejaria, Amoo, Tijani and that Flying Eagles engine room a chance to develop and learn more from Ndidi, Aribo and Iwobi.
The presence of Sor, Olayinka, Lookman and Dwnnis will bring the best out of Simon and Chukzy..
    Consider Sor
The presence of Awoniyi/Moffi/Dessers will provide more potent options in the attack and also make Kel, Osimhen better decision maker (not going for the spectacular).

Pesse, Do not give room to Eguzero or Picnic.. Get the best players for each position, this is the only way to get the best from Eagles.

The striker’s didn’t just fall from heaven ooo, the Eguavoen that you all supported equally had them at his disposal but could only manage a penalty goal against a poor Ghana team over 180 minutes of boring football, hope you and your entitlement driven ex-internationals can finally allow a competent coach to be with the team than hoping to fall with “our own”
