President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau has explained that the reduction of the makeup of the technical and administrative crew of the Super Eagles and all other national teams is for easier management and to save cost.
Gusau told Completesports.com exclusively in a chat that the new measures have already taken effect with the slashing of the coaching crew of the national Under-20 team from seven to three adding that the same action will be effected on the Golden Eaglets who will open camp this month.
“We started with Super Eagles by trimming the backroom staff to a manageable number from the over 20 attained in the past during their last friendly in Portugal. This I must confess saved us millions of Naira that should have gone into payment of flight tickets and accommodation, as well as daily allowances and expenditures.

“These measures will also affect the Super Falcons, Falconets, Flamingos and the Olympic Eagles and other age-grade national teams. Henceforth, only four coaches will be attached to each of the national teams, but perhaps, the Super Eagles and Super Falcons getting some preferential treatment as the occasion demands.
“The issue of coaches cut across all national teams including the Super Eagles. We cannot be managing 7-8 coaches in a team. That is an invitation for chaos and it’s money-consuming. To this end, we have told some of the coaches that their services are no longer required while some may be redeployed, ” Gusau stated
The NFF boss who is in Algeria for the CHAN tournament as one of the officials revealed the pain of Nigeria’s absence from the biennial competition for players who feature in their respective countries’ domestic leagues
Gusau added: “It is a big miss that Nigeria did not qualify [for CHAN 2023], but we shall work very hard to ensure that we do not miss future tournaments again.”

Good development.
We missed out on tournaments due to carelessness by the football and sports authorities.
Mr Gusau seems to be a good administrator. His approach is commendable.
I like the fact our youth teams have started early preparations to engagements which was not the case in the previous administration.
Good-luck Mr Gusau.
Thumbs up brotherman GT.. This Administrator has started well.
Smart move to cut cost…..But was Pinnick not thinking? How can each national team have 7-8 coaches. Na WA oohh
Wise talk Brodaman. I and I will always respond to wise information. This NFF chairman will go places if he continues this way.
Pinnick had so many interests to pacify. He was a lavish spender. This Gasau is an accountant. His disposition will be different.
Gasau is beginning to show he is a man with foresight and good organizational abilities. May this trend not take a bend. God bless to Gasau n his crew
Nice one mr Guzau, u appear to be a man of integrity and foresight, at least for now. Make we dy watch. 8 coaches per team is absolutely ridiculous! The additional 5 to the official 3 coaches was soley an avenue instituted by picnic and his group to be milking the federation without mercy. Their salaries would be cut in half with mr mango head, picnic, taking the rest. However, u need to flash ur beam light in the direction of the coach of the super eagles. Please do something!!! That man there is not competent enough to take us to where we ought to be. Do the needful now there is still time b4 it gets too late. Happy new year guys!!
A step in the right direction. More action required.
Also notice he was not the one in England to scout the players in UK rather it was the technical director. Good signs of an administrator for now.
Thumbs up brotherman. I n I don’t know why Pinic was doing the job of his Technical Director. He was not a very good administrator.
Heaven bless Gusau and all deserving NFF administrators.
