Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Andrew Aikhomogbe believes Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has what it takes to restore the glory days of the team.
He made the assertion after the team defeated Benin 1-0 to qualify for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon on Saturday.
In a chat with Completesports correspondent in an exclusive interview from his base in Cairo, Egypt, Aikhomogbe stated that the German tactician has transformed the Super Eagles into a winning team.
He said that Rohr’s qualification of the Super Eagles to the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations is a testament to his hard work and determination to improve the standard of the team to a greater height.
“I must admit that Gernot Rohr deserved to be commended for his achievements with the Super Eagles since he took over in 2016.
“I was so delighted when the team defeated Benin 1-0 in Porto-Novo to qualify for the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations. It was a great result for the team and Rohr considering the antics of the Benin officials prior to the game.
“I believe Rohr can restore the glory days of the senior national team if giving the support. “

Please someone should tell me if nation cup is 2022 or 2021
Jan–Feb 2022, ceteris paribus.
Sir with all due respect to you, Rohr doesn’t have what it takes to return us to our glory days. We need a good tactician to lead us back to the glory days. More than Five(5) years since he Rohr took over nothing to show and he doesn’t still have his first eleven. That’s my take.
What a useless take on @Israel…
Each time we have any match to play, even Rohr’s adent critics including his opponent knows those he’ll definitely use in his startin line up hence the cry that ROHR only stick to some players and doesn’t give room for others to show what they have…..
This your useless point of not having first eleven is invalid….
If u say he doesn’t have first eleven then i guest u know nothing next to SE….
We all know his starting line up….
Infact, his adent critics can name his first 15 players that must be on his list b4 the list is out….
Just accept the fact that u are miles away from our male senior soccer team ASAP….
DEAL WITH THAT…..

I wonder why some folks here like to talk thrash. @Isreal. There is no such thing like permanent 1st Eleven.. At any given match day the available best eleven is featured. If you are waiting for your fav 11 like pS2 PES2008 from Rohr, I am afraid you will never achieve that dream lol. Who knows, you still dream of Jay Jay and Kanu. NA WAH FOR U.
In the past few days some members of the “Rohr haters FC”, have been a bit silent. No one has shoved a mic in the faces of some of our ex-internationals who were signed to this club, by the enemies of the country who are eyeing the 2022 world cup squad for a major financial killing. We have not heard from them, because even if they were hired to a dirty job, they can at least see that the team is achieving results and that public opinion is not on their side. We acknowledge their silence.
The truly shameless ones are some on sports radio (the Nigeria info guys in Abuja), and some on sports news blogs (a couple on goal.com) who I think are really committed to the course. They won’t see anything good in the team as long as Rohr is in charge.
One day the coach will leave. We can go back to using calculators
I think Rhor lacks the defensive philosophy, and playing in the depth of defensive midfield and back line,he lacks also orgnized and pressing football which allows the rivsal to score goals in Super Eagles this proofed at the match between Sierra Leon,Algeri in fromer Afco in Egypt 2019,so I recommend Rhor to harness and change his thoughts and to look at playing with pressing ,orgnized defence with creating fiernceness and strength in order to compel the rival to play in his side only.
