Exclusive: WAFU U-17 Tourney: Burkina Faso Won’t Be Easy To Beat In Final –Babangida Warns Golden Eaglets

Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida believes Burkina Faso will give the Golden Eaglets a run for their money in today’s final of WAFU U-17 championship.

Recall that Nigeria sealed a final spot after defeating Ivory Coast 3-1 in the semi-finals. Yan Diomandi had given the Baby Elephants the lead just two minutes into the game from the penalty kick spot.

But two well-taken free-kicks by Emmanuel Michael saw the Golden Eaglets go into the break 2-1 ahead. Ivory Coast were pegged further back on the hour mark when Abdullahi found the net with a glancing header to settle the contest.

Ahead of the today’s final, Babangida in a chat with Compeletesports.com, stated that the Golden Eaglets have the quality to shood down their Burkina Faso counterpart.

“The current squad of Golden Eaglets possesses so much qualities in this year’s WAFU U-17 Championship and I am confident they will crown their efforts with the title.

“The victory won’t come easy because Burkina Faso will be tough and also determined to win the tournament. However, the qualities in the team will make a big difference in today’s final.”

    BABAGINDA?
    Or do you mean BABANGIDA?
I saw BABAGINDA in the headline, and I thought ok, nobody is above mistake.
But to see the error over and over again? Come on guys. Every single time the name was mentioned in this article, it was butchered.
    Not cool.

This particular headline was even good, like 3 others I read was nothing related to the news, I believe they can do better, but I often wonder if they don’t read what they are typing or they are in constant haste.
