Eze Named In England U-21 Squad For Euro Championship Qualifiers

Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze has been included in the England squad for their final two UEFA European U21 Championship qualifying fixtures against Andorra and Albania.

Eze is in the squad for the games which come after the young Three Lions secured their qualification for next year’s finals last month, with victory over Turkey at Wolverhampton Wanderers, a match in which the former Queens Park Rangers man came on a substitute.

“We’ve got about eight to nine players who are just going to miss out on this one because of injuries,” said Boothroyd on the squad announcement this morning.

“But we have competition for places, which is a good thing for any coach and that means the level of training goes up that little bit more, the attitude on the pitch goes up a couple of per cent and it shows you’ve got a really strong environment.

“Without a shadow of a doubt there’s the chance for others to make the squad. When you’ve got players as good as we have got and players who are fit, on form and playing then there’s every opportunity for them.

“This camp gives me the opportunity to meet and get to know some of the other players that I haven’t known before and to find out if they are ready to get a seat on the plane.”

  • I think about 65% of Nigeria fans have already lost instrest in this guy. They’ve moved on as there will be many options in time to come. Dog wey go get loss will never hear hunters whistle.

eze is 22 years of age, how come he is still invited to u21 squad? anyway, saka is 19 and has been invited to the senior national team of England but eze who doesn’t want to rush his international career is still being invited to under21. of course, players have different growth speed and doesn’t give me the right to write anyone off, but eze really need to think about this.
eze position is primarily attacking midfield and inverted winger, and these positions are already occupied by players with better quality (at least for now) who are already jelling well with the others.
at Nigeria, if eze has chosen us earlier, he would have already settled his place in the 23 squad list. but now kelechi nwakali is doing this, and with ejaria coming in, chances of eze cementing his place for world cup 2022 keeps sliming.

    • Abdul handsy 3 years ago

I reasoned the matter too longtime ago. Eze is above 22 years old then, how come he is being invited to u21?

      This beats my imagination fa!
Anyways Eze’s matter is not in my mind anymore because the way he went about rejecting naija was not matured at all.

      • Adisboy 3 years ago

The UEFA U21 championship in reality is an U23 competition. The criteria is you must be 21yrs or younger at the start of the qualifiers. The qualifiers start 2yrs before the actual competition.

  • Ur mate are playing senior national team, you are busy playing under 21,shame.

  • Let them go. We have enough talent already.

  • Collins id 3 years ago

This eze havnt score in the premierleague, despite having playing regularly. The Guy is not what he think he has become, he needs to. Iwobi that many thought u will displaced like say na beans, have been vindicated, i think eze will regret rejecting naija in the future

Shey I told you guys league pas league….Lolz. Championship nor be EPL. All that shibobo wey Eze dey do for championship make e come do am for epl na. Na inside nylon bag dem go pack in legs put give am make e carry go house after tough tackling EPL defenders don pieces am finish. The top level experience Iwobi has both in EPL, in Europe, WC and AFCON…..Eze cannot have it in 5 years. Somebody said “Eze is more attacking then Iwobi”….. Yet Iwobi don get like 7-8 goal contributions this season already, and the ‘more attacking’ Eze still dey find where opponents goalposts dey. That was how I earned myself another enemy on CSN…Lolz

  • abeg dont even compare eze to iwobi.. eze is new in epl, and a with new players.. iwobi has been in epl fr uncountable years. remember iwobi score only 2goal and 1 assist last season.. i am not one of those eze fans, but God dont let the truth u gave me leave my mouth. amen.. iwobi can only start a game in an average team.. thats why he start for super eagle, sorry super chicken.

    • Here’s another attention seeker. I wonder why u love to watch and comment on super chicken matches.

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Eze is new in EPL….so Kai Havertz has been playing in EPL for the past 10 years abi….Saka too had been playing in the EPL for 20 years before his debut season last season…..LMAO. Excuses upon excuses……LMAO. Eze is so good that at the age of 22 he is still not good enough for the 3 lions….na U21 bench e still dey warm….make e continue. If you cannot be a guaranteed 1st XI player for the U21, I wonder how you will get called up to the Senior team.

I have never seen Iwobi as a maradona or messi that transforms the entire team rather I see him like a stabilizer that can increase a low current electricity( like the one in victors house) to a verry high voltage. despite most of our players are averaged like we have been complaining, but immediately iwobi sparks that average turns full package immediately laziness they commot for their body bcos it’s only an AM that can determine the pace of a game, with the kind of speed and urgency iwobi brought into our engine room ( which we lacked for past 30 years) iwobi makes eagles play like our magical u17 boys. even jayjay though a legend never had such frequency to the eagles, I think iwobi got that from arsenal academy it’s very important, becos if he is inform and plays out opponent in the midfield, I don’t care if he scores or not that is not his primary responsibility, but as number 10 if Iwobi sparks the owl team follows. all our arsenals in the front will begin to show opponents what they can do in front of goal. iwobi will bring out the laziness in you for every body to know that u are the problem, which unuocho suffered. if you see Iwobi in our line up then u have to increase ur gear bcos u will not see that old three to four touches eagles, be ready for 1 and 2 play. though he do make mistakes or wrong decisions sometimes but he is always ready to recover and you can hardly see him confused with the ball like some of the players does you their yansh as a cover shield until their rescued. these are the qualities that makes iwobi untouchable.

  • Whether people like it or not, I believe for now Alex iwobi is the only indispensable player we have in the Super Eagles and he is the only player we dont have a replacement for (yet).
Although he can play in numerous positions in mf, he has been doing the job of creative midfielder for the Super eagles for sometime now and we haven’t found a backup or someone to compete with him yet.
He has a lot of experience playing in major competitions and he is improving everyday.so any other creative midfielder coming into the team will still have to play second fiddle to him until it can be established that they are better.
And for all these players with dual nationality we keep talking about, I think we should focus on the ones we have and stop counting on those who seem undecided. Let the coaches and nff do their jobs.
If we get them good, if we dont good because we have a long list of players waiting for an opportunity to play for the Super eagles.
While we may show interest in them, Lets not make it seem we are begging them, let them come to us just like Akpoguma did. And when Nigeria becomes a force in world football again they will come running and pleading to play for us.

  • @Collins and Sportsfan, thank you very much. We know people who truly follow the super eagles’ matches.
Udokhai has already been called up to German team but we have other active players to look on.
I hate to compare non naija players with ours cos for me, campaigning for Eze is like campaigning for Ross Barkley(an English player). He’s not a Nigerian until he agrees to play for us. Nigeria need to speed up Ejaria’s papers and work on getting Olise. But before then, iwobi is the best we have in that role and we must support him.

  • iwobi the best in super eagle? no wonder people called it super chicken. a place where under average iwobi is the best..chai. nigeria don finished..

iwobi that always use ball to do father christmass for opponents??..

Iwobi that cant hold onto ball??..

    iwobi that cant dribble opponent??..

iwobi that is full of inconsistency??..

    though i like his passes..

only aribo, ndidi, etebo, osimhen are super eagle standard, bcux of they are extra qualities.. but …iwobi, simon, musa, omeruo, collins, onuachu, akpeyi, are super chicken standards..

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

That Iwobi has had a hand in the goals we have scored in the SE in our last 10 matches continuously. He is either scoring, assisting or initiating the move that leads to the goal. Whenever Iwobi is playing for SE pls turn off your TV….LMAO. Tell your Eze to first be a first XI player in his club first before dreaming of dethroning Iwobi.

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has more or less suggested that Jeff Schlupp is ahead of Eberechi Eze in the pecking order of left midfielders and wingers at the club.

The former Queens Park Rangers star has started only two Premier League games in the new season – against Everton and Chelsea – only because Schlupp was sidelined through injury.

And the Anglo-Nigerian’s four other appearances came off the bench when he replaced the Ghana national teamer in matches against Southampton, Manchester United, Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Though he has shown glimpses of his potential, Eze has done little to help his own cause of a regular starting spot with no goals or assists for the Eagles in seven matches across all competitions.

In quotes carried by London News Online, Hodgson explained : “Once again it’s [about] competition. Jeff Schlupp isn’t exactly anything other than a very good attacking left-sided midfield player.

“So I had to make choices there. I’ve not been able to fit both in the team together – especially with the form of Andros Townsend on the other side.

“It’s been nothing more complicated than that. But again, like Jairo Riedewald, he has been excellent in training. He’s done really, really well. He’s impressed everybody – not just with his ability but his attitude and professionalism.

“His chance, I’m sure, will come very, very soon.”

While Eze has logged 228 minutes in the Premier League, his main rival for a starting spot Schlupp was in action for 385 minutes in five starts.
      .
      .
      .
Crystal palace would not mind having an Iwobi in their squad at the moment….LMAO

      • Imagine..thats Jeff shlupp that is not even regular in Ghanian team.

  • Kingston 3 years ago

iwobi and eze are literally no match.
what I saw iwobi did against tunisia friendly impressed me so much that I stopped rooting for any other kind of player to compete against him
his workrate is on another level, imagine adding that to etebo and aribo. SE midfield will be like an engine room mixed with creativity.
iwobi played as a centre midfielder, and yet his creativity didn’t diminish, also including defensive contribution. iwobi is truly the “spark” of the team. you can’t even compared iwobi to nwakali (even if kelechi is playing at his best).
iwobi qualities are rare to find in a single player – the creativity of ozil, the the technicality of xavi, and the workrate of vidal. all these makes him very good at dictating the tempo of our attack.
even at afcon, he had the highest key pass per match for our team and still scored. it is unfortunate some people still think we don’t have a classic no10. the type of player that just rotates passes in the midfield. like football during maradonna time is still the same played today.
but the most inspiring thing about the guy is his patriotism for Nigeria. he wasn’t beg up and down to play for us. he came willing, even when England tried to tie him up because at that time he was viewed as arsenal next big thing. not only that, he still tries to convince other dual nationality players to play for us.
iwobi, Iheanacho and osimhen is Nigeria own version of what messi, neymar and suarez brought to Barcelona

    • @Kingston Iwobi is not better than Samuel Chukwueze neither is he better than Eberechi Eze and only time will open your eyes to this. don’t get me wrong I like Iwobi but his end product is poor and he needs to put in extra effort to improve on it. Iwobi likes partying and social media he is not focused enough he needs extra hours in the gym to strengthen up. Chukwueze look at his build you can see the boy is focused in gym and in training ground.

  • Kingston 3 years ago

@victor, it seems obvious you just don’t like the guy. that Nigeria is not yet at the level of Germany or France doesn’t mean we should downgrade our players
secondly, you get it all wrong. iwobi number one quality is his passes in tight spaces, and that can’t happen unless by his number two top quality which is to hold on to the ball. after that is his ability to contribute to goals, not necessarily by giving assist or scoring goals but by being involve in the build up play. and until recently he added workrate to it. for example, there’s a match he won the MOTM during his time at arsenal. it was against chelsea, and arsenal won 3-0. iwobi in that match didn’t score or provide assist, but yet his overall play as a false winger gave him the award. the whole team played well because of him. he is the kind of player that gives the final pass before the assist. even at his debut season at everton, though he wasn’t scoring the coach still played him regularly. why? his ability to open spaces is simply on another level. if you don’t believe this ask rohr. so that rohr could explain to you who was the engine oil for the super eagles at afcon.
and you said iwobi can’t dribble. I don’t think I really need to debate this at all. but since I am a super eagles fan, I have too. why did you think Wenger made iwobi a winger, since all his quality are fitted as an attacking midfielder. because of his ability to take on players! at some point he had the highest number of nutmegs done by a player in a season.
I admit, iwobi isn’t modric, or iniesta or kevin or David silva. no, but he is a very good player and that’s what we have (besides from the fact that he chose to play for Nigeria instead) so we will celebrate him

  • Eze is 22yrs old in his first season in the premier league, we will be stupid to write him off now in fact that would be amateurish and dumb the boy will come good. All those names Hodgson has mentioned how many seasons have they had to perform in the prem league and what have they achieved???? let s write him off at our own peril we will only regret later.

The boy is a star in the making. I mean are Nigerian fans this impatient and unprofessional. How many games has been played in the EPL this season???? only 8 and with out fans in the Stadium and you are writing him off already LOL.

Please man give this boy a chance to ginger he was the STAR Man in the whole championship last year or you guys think it is easy to achieve that???. You people lack thought in your assessment of EZE abeg make we hear word joor. Eze carry go!! star boy!!!, don’t mind yeye Super Eagles fans wey no sabi ball.

I mean how harsh are you people sounding???…Look at Hirving “Chucky” Lozano from Napoli people wrote him off last season and they are eating their words now.. Keep writing Eze off and regret later that is where I will leave that.

  • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Hehehehe…Bukayo saka, Kai Havertz, Patrick Bamford, James Rodriguez, Tariq Lamptey, Ademola Lookman, Tammy Abraham must have all spent 10 years in the EPL….LMAO, that is why they are/were the stars of their teams in their 1st EPL seasons….LMAO. If at 22 you cant make the starting XI of crystal palace (of all teams) and England U21, then I wonder when you will become a star….LMAO. Championship nor be EPL. This is the same Eze some lunatics were claiming will walk into the SE and put Iwobi on the bench….LMAO. Naim nor fit even start for crystal palace and Juinor lions….that’s an evidence of an average class player. Star ko, Budweiser ni…! Yeye dey smell…!

    • @Dr Drey At what age did Didier Drogba become a star in the Premier League? 27.. abeg keep nacking dat fufu wey u dey talk say yo dey nack daily, and let us have peace Nawa o e don do

    • Let us also look at Kelechi Iheanacho or is it because Eze is undecided about his national team future you guys are being unfair to him? I rest my case. Have a good day @Dr Drey

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Hahahaha…The last time I checked, Didier Drogba did not come into the EPL to warm bench, he still scored 16 goals and 8 assists in his 1st season in the EPL. He was already an AFOTY nominee and UEFA cup finalist before moving to chelsea. Its highly ridiculous trying to compare Eze with Drogba. There’s no point overhyping a player who cannot even make the 1st team of crystal palace. Iheanacho moved straight from Mancity academy to displace Dzeko as City No 2 striker….that is real talent and potential.

Feel free to join me for a bout of fufu and goat meat in the spirit tonight.

  • Kingston 3 years ago

the truth is that eze has potentials. you can’t say that because he is yet to make impact at a top flight league that he is not good. remember salah, victor moses and Kevin. I don’t still agree that he’s better than iwobi, not at all. but eze could still be the big thing.

    • @kingston he may not be a big thing. You see it’s not all about talents but about decisions you make in the course of your career. Choosing the national team to play for is of one of those decisions. Iwobi Moses Aina aribo all have benefited because they chose Nigeria and are regulars. The confidence they get has helped their outputs.

England will never cap a player who can’t be a regular in crystal palace or junior lions. His confidence is dropping.

Buy anyway we don’t need him again. He has lost it already.

On iwobi, those who criticize should check out his stats with eagles and when he was at arsenal. The boy has proved himself. He will still give more. Please don’t embarrass him by comparing him to bench warmer like eze

      • As far as I am concerned yes, Iwobi is good enough for SE but So is Eze. However, if we are to compare the two in No 10 role, Eze will bring more dynamism than Iwobi will I really believe that.

  • Igbekun Abo 3 years ago

The reason why Eze is struggling in Crystal Palace is because the coach does not like him, his team mates don’t pass to him and the media people are out to get him. I personally advised Eze not to chase fame and fortune to Crystal Palace but he never listened to me. Thier system of playing does not suit Eberechi Eze at all at all. Eze the great (lol) thrives only under world class coaches like Pep Guardiola. If only he had listened to me and had been more patient, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool or Bayern Munich might have come calling. As for those saying he is not good enough for the national team, these are evil fans with evil motives and their plots will never succeed. As long as I am on this platform, I will make life difficult for such agents of darkness. Just because they want their players like Junior Ajayi or Arokodare in the national team, they are trying to bring Eberechi Eze the great down. I have seen through their evil plots and machinations and they will not succeed. One by one I will flush them out of their hiding places and make sure they each hug wet transformers right before my eyes .
As for comparing Eberechi Eze with Alex Iwobi, what nonsense. If Eberechi Eze have had all the caps Alex Iwobi had for Nigeria, we would have won the last World Cup and the last Afcon. The only reason we did not qualify from our group in Russia was because we did not have Eze. He would have scored a hattrick against Argentina, easy-money. Once he fully pledges his allegiance for Nigeria, Iwobi should just retire, shikena. We will win the AFCON and we will win next world cup with Eberechi Eze. Who needs Iwobi.
    I don talk my own.

  • Proudly 9ja 3 years ago

We as Nigerians are often times too emotional and sentimental as it relates to our players. We tend to get upset when a player picks a different country to play for which is very understandable. The cases of Saka, Tomori, Abraham, comes to mind. Drey my broda, you can’t say that if Eze decides to play for 9ja, he won’t add value to the team especially when the midfield is a cause for concern. Yes, Eze might not have hit d ground running in Crystal palace, that doesn’t mean he isn’t good enough. As u know many factors can be contributing to why he isn’t doing too well. U will admit that Everton and Crystal Palace are at the same level (ok maybe Everton is slightly above them) but Iwobi too is not starting most games and typically comes off the bench. There is no guarantee that Iwobi will start all games in Crystal Palace. Remember, CP has zaha, batsuayi, Townsend who have been there for some time. Eze is battling zaha for the same position, same way Iwobi is battling Richarlison (remember i asked u why Richardson was benching iwobi and ur response was more goals and athleticism by Richarlison was the reason which I agree with), the same applies in this case for Eze as Zaha can’t be dropped for anybody cos of his goals and all around play. There is no saying that Iwobi and Eze can’t play together in the SE,it will even bode well for the team. Moreover, if we no hype 9ja players who go help us hype them na? I understand that we should hype in moderation but nobody go help us ooo. Just my opinion.

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

@Proudlymja. Nobody as said Eze is a bad player. Its the hype around him that is just preposterous. You know a good player when you pit him against a strong opposition. Eze was king the the championship but has evaporated in the EPL…that says a lot. Even before picking England, Ive never been the type that drools about Eze, so his allegiance does not form my assessment of him. He is at best decent player….decent enough for his level. He is not in anyway better than iwobi. The same iwobi whom you affirm has not had regular starts at everton already has about 7-8 goal contributions this season already. Can same be said of the “better one” despite being in the same situation as Iwobi…? Checkout their national team fortunes too….when Alex is not scoring or assisting, he is delivering the key pass leading to the assist. Eze is still playing U21 football yet does not even have a guaranteed spot in the team.
Lets tone down the hype on these kids and allow them focus on their football.

      • Proudly 9ja 3 years ago

Well said Drey, am not a 100% sure but the goals and contributions were mostly from the EFL cup if am not mistaken. I don’t like comparing players but u will agree that if Eze had pledged his international future to 9ja he too will be getting playing time not compared to Iwobi since iwobi has been with the team longer. They are 2 different players who would definitely add value to the team. Do u honestly think Iwobi will be playing for the 3 lions based on form? Tge reality is that iwobi was smart to choose 9ja early and in return 9ja gave him the lifeline to play international football. You made another good point that he (Eze) is at best a decent player (in other words average) and u and I know at best the SE is an average team, so in like of that he should make tge 9ja team same as Iwobi. I was thinking about this the other day, I might get some stick for this but do u know player for player the SE can’t compete with France U21. France u21 players play for better teams and regularly. Just check this out

Aoar, Dembele (lyon), Upamecano, Nkunkun (leipzig), Thuram, Gouiri (nice), Camavinga (rennes), Maxima (new castle), Guenduzi, Kounde (Seville), Iron (lille), Diablo, Dagba (psg) just to name a few. It will be very difficult for SE to beat this team. Full disclosure, many of these boys have played for Les blue. So bcos Eze plays for England u21 or eats the bench lol does not mean he can’t make the SE. But overall I get your point as well.

        • By the way Eze just scored and is controlling the midfield for Crystal Palace against a very solid Leeds team with a solid manager Marcelo Beilsa, Pep guardiola and Mauricio Ponchentino’s mentor. People in this forum should cool down. Don’t jump to conclusions about Eze. If he chooses England it’s a big loss to SE period!

    • Its a shame to be comparing Eze that is still fighting to be regular at Under 21 level at 22 with top midfielder here. Who are the regulars in England? Grealish? Sancho? Barkely? Those are the names I want to see here when you want to compare.
If Eze really wants to improve like Aina, Moses, Ekong,Balogun and co, Let him come and join us or else,…

      • Proudly 9ja 3 years ago

Sean correct guy, if him wan improve mek him join us. u no lie abeg. Iwobi na the same level as Sancho (€100M Manchester united beg dortmund but Dortmund no gree sell), Grealish (same Manchester united beg aston villa for £50-60M but dem sef no gree) na them u dey compare to Iwobi. If you no fit compare Iwobi to the players u listed then y compare Eze to them. Iwobis only goal this season so far was from EFL, Though he has a hand in several goals through pre-assists.

  • Kingston 3 years ago

    @prodly 9ja… well spoken!
funny enough, iwobi starts from again today along with kelechi nwakali. but if we no hype ourselves who go hype us?

    • Proudly 9ja 3 years ago

@kingston, Just watching both games too, its sad Nwakali is on the bench after playing against big Real Madrid. Is it that the coach is rotating the team (Huesca) or its strategic (plays different team against different opposition)? His bench position won’t help his case as it relates to SE unfortunately.

    • @proudly9na, haba! Nawa o! Firstly , u said naija players can’t be compared to France under 21 when their senior team struggled to beat us in 2014. Later u started judging English players with huge price through hyping from their press. Dele Ali was once worth £100 have u forgotten? What about Shaw and Maguire ? Apart from error from Madagascar, I’ve never seen Balongun being disgraced like Maguire this season. May be u know that Abraham price is higher than that of Osimhen but btw me and you, is Abraham better than Osimhen?even Rashford. You will never notice our players until they play against a team u are supporting put your 100 million. Sancho against Sergio Ramos (salah a typical example) can he disgrace the defense of Real Madrid and Barca the way chukwueze did?
I know what I’m saying o! England vs Naija match was game of halves and who triggered our response in the second half, was it not iwobi? I beg calm down o! English players are not Ronaldo and Messi I beg.

  • Kingston 3 years ago

is kelechi nwakali that good? let’s be sincere, against real Madrid the guy was squarely average. personally speaking, I didn’t expect him to start this match. the performance he gave against madrid is not the kind that makes coach start you again.
I have nothing against nwakali, but the guy needs to develop really fast. his case even looks worst than eze, though both have similar potentials

  • Proudly 9ja 3 years ago

Sean correct guy, if him wan improve mek him join us. u no lie abeg. • Lord AMO 3 years ago

Look i have no dog in this fight as whether Eze plays for Nigeria or not doesn’t bother me either way.  However I find it preposterous that we are slagging a player that is just at the start of his premier league career.  I can’t say if he’ll come good or not but come on, his story is just in the introduction stage.  Football is littered with countless stories of great players whose start is similar to that of Eze.  Let the story develop before judging abeg.

Funny enough he has started and scored today!

    • My point Exactly it is too much the way people are being so hard on him it is infact criminal and has a touch of bitterness to it IMHO! thank you @Lord AMO for that. Lol… When you advise him as being too loud at all things he picks on you and try to play bully.

        • Exactly my Point @JimmyBall Bros.. Instead of eating the humble pie Eze has just serve him he will look for a way to counter with lack of reasoning, I tire for am o Lol.

Hahahaha…I’m waiting for you to tell us Ebere Eze the greatest SE midfielder of all time….LMAO. If Nwakali can be better than all SE midfielders and Ajayi better than Nacho, Dessers and Onuachu combined, I wont be surprised if you crown Eze as nigeria’s GOAT because he scored against leeds today…LMAO.
You comment as much, if not more than I do on daily basis on this forum, yet Dr.Drey is loud. Abeg who hold your own mouth make e nor loud, with all you fallacious and fictitious comments and stories on this forum…Lolz. That’s part of the hypocrisy we are talking about. LMAO.

    • @Lord AMO what did I say the last time Osimhen didn’t come??.. YOu guys nearly took my head off. Abi you have seen it now right?

  • By the way Eze just scored and is controlling the midfield for Crystal Palace against a very solid Leeds team with a solid manager Marcelo Beilsa, Pep guardiola and Mauricio Ponchentino’s mentor. People in this forum should cool down. Don’t jump to conclusions about Eze. If he chooses England it’s a big loss to SE period!

Hehehehhe… Iwobi has been scoring and assisting goals even in Europe for ages past. Let’s not even talk about his contributions at national team level. A goal and assist Vs Leeds United is not an affirmation of superiority…neither is it eldorado…..LMAO. As earlier affirmed Eze is at best a decent player…decent for his level. When he gets to control and score in an European cup final like Iwobi, then will we know he has come of age

    • Okay o mister I live on past glory. Mind you I like Iwobi but Eze is a little better is all I am saying lets call a spade A spade.

and he is a free kick specialist something we have not had since Jay Jay Okocha.. Looking at it he may be the next Okocha if he chooses SE. God wiling he will

      • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Hahahahaha….Iwobi and Eze started the season together frekke…..Iwobi has about 8 goal contribution already, Eze’s day just broke today. Iwobi @ 23 has already competed at European Cup final level, the “better one” @ 22 is just getting his 1st ever goal in EPL against who?….LEEDS..?!!! Butha, stop comparing an Eagle with a butterfly.

@Dr.Drey… no face-saving for you on this. I have advised you to stop mocking players… but you just can’t help it.

      • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Mocking players…LMAO. Pls show me where I mocked players. Copy and paste the so-called mockery and lets see. You want me to rig figures and stats for players and praise-sing them like you do…Nwakali is better than all SE midfielders including Mikel…..Junior Ajayi is better than Iheanacho, Dessers and Onuachu……thats what you want me to join you in doing….? Never…!
It even surprising this advise is coming from someone like you who has used derogatory comments on the likes of Mikel and Musa on several occasions….LMAO

  • Wow! Eze! Really played well just like Foden, Sterling and other English fellow players . we know they have good players in England but this is naija and I can praise any of our player as I like. I can even condemn his game today to support my iwobi by saying his performance today Is not new cos he played against newly promoted Leeds united as he’s been playing against them in the past. Iwobi has scored against Chelsea even performed well in his debut against barca..let him do the same.
Unless this guy play for us, he’s just a good English player that’s all but not better than what we have.
Iwobi is 23, Eze is 22…
They both started with Arsenal but Iwobi played for Senior Squad. So what’s up?
Learn to praise what we have. Eze is good but not ours yet.

    • @Sean that comment has a touch of bitterness written all over it. Iwobi is our own but needs to shape up or Carlo Ancellotti will ship him out. He came on today and had zero impact again. He seriously needs to up his game or his days are numbered in the prem league because truth be told if he is let go by Everton today on current form he will have no premier League suitors and this is coming from a place of concern like i said and will maintain I LIKE IWOBI! and want the best for the lad he is indeed our own. God willing he will up his game as I am praying for him to

      • @Ugo Iwunze, may be you are right but all the same, the type of bitterness you are talking about might be different from how I feel.
Pls don’t pity Nigeria if we lose this guy(eze) because Iwobi performs better in Naija color and he’ll continue performing well so we won’t miss him a bit trust me but for Eze,ask Dele Ali, Ask Barkely, here are players that have played even better than eze in the past but for naija, ask Ekong ( from Groningen to Udinese then watford, Ask Aina from Chelsea reserve to Torino then Fulham, don’t make mistake about Iwobi’s form, he’ll surely come good cos Nigeria will lift him. balogun once suffered from this…you know where he is now. But bet me if greenwood, Saka, Foden and others can be playing for England at 19, I see no reason y Eze should be fighting for shirt at under 21 level at 22 when we have his mates here turning stars in their club Osimhen,Chukwueze etc so Naija has nothing to lose if he choose England..its his loss.

    • He only needs consistency because when Iwobi is good he is really good. Consistency is what he is lacking.

  • winsome Dude 3 years ago

Why are we wasting our time on a player who doesn’t see himself as a Nigerian? and we’re now comparing them with what we have for now. Only a good and a considerate Coach, a coach who doesn’t play a player out of their comfortable positions when there are better players for such positions on the bench, not a coach who doesn’t not understand the formation better suits the present players in the squad for now ,can bring the best out of our average stars. Iwobi playing alongside with Iheanacho had always produce a good results upfront but our coaching crew doesn’t see that. Now with the addition of Osimhen upfront with Ndidi and Aribo/Nwakali(if he step up his game) in middle, back 3 of Balogun, Ekong,Akpoguma then Ebuehi and Aina/ Sanusi on the wings back and Okoye/Osigwe in goal, all playing together with discipline and a good team spirit and not forgotten Chukwueze, Ejuke and Paul MuKairu with their pace and dribbles on the bench sub-in when needed,a so called average players can become a team to beat.

most Nigerian players lack consistency, except maybe a few like ndidi

    Eze did well today.
