Fans Relive Excitement As Heineken #Unmissable UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour Ends In Style In Lagos

It was fun and excitement galore on the final day of the Heineken UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour in Lagos as fans were offered the chance of catching a glimpse of the trophy.

The opening day (Tuesday) saw Barcelona legend Carles Puyol lead the Chairman Team against that of Shine Shine Bobo which was led by former Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha in the Unmissable match at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium, Uyo.

Activities for the second day of the tour started with a visit to the Lagos State House, where the UEFA Champions League Trophy was presented to Governor Akinkunmi Ambode by Puyol and Okocha.

On the same day, there was also the Lagos Brewery Tour and Employee Encounter event which Puyol and Okocha were part of.

Some selected fans were also offered the chance to catch a glimpse of the trophy and take pictures at the Star Bar Inside the premises of Nigeria Breweries, Iganmu, Lagos.

The day rounded up with the VVIP event at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos where top officials of the Nigerian Breweries and invited top personalities which included Lagos State Governor elect, Babajide Sanwolu watched live, the Champions League, quarter-final, second fixture between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The City Trophy Tour on Thursday started at the Maryland Shopping Mall and ended at the Ikeja City Mall with massive attendance of fans who came out in large numbers to make the trophy tour a worthwhile experience.

Football fans who were elated to catch a glimpse of the coveted trophy and couldn’t hide their excitement.

“It’s really to get a closer view of the UEFA Champions League Trophy. I must say I’m lucky to witness this occasion life. It is something that will live with me for a long time, “Ikechukwu Gabriel, a staunch Barcelona fan stated.

His sentiment was shared by Temitayo Badmus, who supports Liverpool: It is good to have Carles Puyol and the Champions League Trophy in Nigeria.

“For people like us who only see the trophy on television, seeing it live and direct is not something that one can describe easily. I just can’t describe how I’m feeling at the moment. ”

Another fan, Patrick Ibeh however hopes the likes of Finidi George, Nwankwo Kanu and John Mikel Obi who have won the title with Ajax Amsterdam and Chelsea in the past will be part of the tour in future.

“I must commend Nigerian Breweries for this great initiative. To bring a legend like Carles Puyol and the Champions League Trophy to Nigeria is not a small feat. I give kudos to the for this.

“Having said that, I will want more Nigerians to be involved in future. Finidi, Kanu and Mikel who have tasted glory in the competition in the past.

As part of the activities for the final day of the tour, Puyol also visits the SuperSport office in Ilupeju, Lagos.

The tour ended with the consumer event at the Eko Hotel and Suites.
