Federer Rules Halle Again

Roger Federer clinched his 10th Halle Open title on Sunday after beating David Goffin in straight sets.

World number three Federer, playing in his 13th Halle final, managed to overcome Belgium star Goffin 7-6 6-1 to win his 102nd career title and extend his impressive record in Germany.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion now heads to Wimbledon, which starts on July 1, as he bids for a ninth title at the All England Club and his first since 2017.

Speaking after his victory, the 37-year-old said he was delighted to have had so much success at the Halle Open and winning for the 10th time is beyond his wildest dreams.

“It’s unbelievable. I never thought when I first played here that I would win 10 titles,” Federer was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

Federer now has three tournament wins to his name this season, having also triumphed at the Dubai Championships and Miami Open.
