Ligue 1 club Stade Rennes have joined the race to sign Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez, Completesports.com reports.
Fernandez, who joined the Scottish giants from League One side Peterborough United for around £3.5 million last summer, has quickly established himself as one of the standout defenders in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers are expected to demand a significant profit if they decide to sell the 24-year-old during the current transfer window.
The Nigerian international enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign at Ibrox, winning the club’s Player of the Season award and earning a place in the Scottish Premiership Team of the Season.

Fernandez also made an impact at the other end of the pitch, scoring five goals in 27 league appearances for the Light Blues.
His impressive club form has also been rewarded at international level, with the centre-back earning three caps for Nigeria.
According to French outlet Ouest-France, Fernandez is one of three central defenders on Rennes’ shortlist as the Ligue 1 side look to strengthen their backline.
Rennes face competition from several clubs across Europe, with Feyenoord, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund all monitoring the Nigeria international.

Yes, Fernandez deserves everything coming his ways now interms of transfer interests and popularity but, my hor os that he should comtinue his developement in places like France, and Germany.
The English premier league os huge but the press, and the expectation is somehow complex for the players especially the up and coming ones. He needs a place where the football is a bit different and the chances are more.
Ask me, the French ligue One is the ideal place for him.
He has been sich a nice ball playing defenders but, we need to see more of his defensive attributes in different football culture.
