Finidi: Osimhen Yet To Apologise For Social Media Outburst

Former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George claimed Victor Osimhen has not get in touch with him to apologise for the social media rant that disrespected him.

Osimhen lashed out at Finidi in the social media after the latter reportedly accused him of pulling out of national team games.

Finidi said Osimhen has yet to apologise
even after he reached out to the forward.

“I sent him a message that it was not the best way, just someone telling you that coach said that and you’re taking about me like I said it in an interview,” Finidi told Nigeria Info FM.

“From that point I didn’t hear from him, I moved on and I wish everybody well, only God will judge”.

Finidi also refused to comment on suggestion Osimhen should have been sanctioned with a ban from the Super Eagles.

“I don’t know, he is there already, let him be,”he added.

“We cannot crucify him, he has made a mistake, we have moved on and life goes on.”

  • Some people will still boldly defend osimhen..Kia what a country..SMH

    • @Okus or whatever, This is not the time for Finidi to make this statement when we need to get maximum points, the truth is Ex Footballers don’t care whether Nigeria does well or not, they are all in for the Money. If Finidi is smart why not wait till International Break is over?. You people also Reason like Children

Finidi in my opinion should move on from this matter because knowing Osimhen’s temperament revisiting their misjudgement could fan the flames of hostility, neither parties does not need this..

    • Chima E Samuels 4 weeks ago

Osimhen’s temperament is very disgusting and nobody cares. Finidi is old enough to be his father and might even be older than Osimhen’s late father R.I.P to him. His temperament is very shitty and disgusting like his ass lickers. I don’t care how much I like him but I hate his behaviours. Let him apologise or remain the new bad boy he is creating for himself and disgusting brand he claims to have. People scold me here for reacting to a lot of nonsense yet the same idiots are the ones playing zombies behind the scene and encouraging these behaviour that has almost tarnished Osimhen’s excellent Career. I’m not an hater but if you think me advising Osimhen to calm down means hate then God bless your judgement and mentality.

      • @Chima

Can’t you see the irony? The hypocrisy in your statement.

You are calling out Osimhen’s insult by being insultive as well, so which is more disgusting?

You went further to insult his supporters as ‘asslikers’ ‘idiots playing zombies’, yet Osimhen is the one with the shitty temperament. You are just fine.

How can you advise someone to be calm, yet you lack decorum?

OH OK, I get it, Calmness is only for those in the public eye not for those writing in a public space.

        That makes sense.

        • Chima E Samuels 4 weeks ago

There’s no irony here you don’t expect me to those who encourage them by beautifying them with a ceremonial title. When you certain Nigerians you can not help but give them their title. So for people who are encouraging a tout you don’t expect me to give them a valuable remark. Them plenty!!!!!!

          • Footballfanatic 4 weeks ago

This is just wrong timing for this…I was one of those who scolded Osimhen initially but c’mon not when the guy is just finding his feet after being inactive for months…We have a crucial away game and this is just total distraction except these media people are peddling fake bs to create traffic for for their news outlet. There’s a time for everything and this is just wrong. Finisintime to move on.

When we should be looking forward and building on our positives.

      • Why do we Nigerians like failure? We just want to fail at every turn in life. Finidi what’s ur problem? Is oshimen ur dad or what, for d sake of God move on. If he apologises to u or not move d F on. Why start this issue on d eve of a game. You are part of the reason we won’t be going to worldcup and u are looking for apology. Have you apologized to Nigerians for d heartbreak u gave to us? At d eve of an away game u dey complain like pikin. Oya Sorry on behalf of oshimen, case don close ,move on bros. Na wah

  • Four four two 4 weeks ago

Pls , pls Finidi should allow sleeping dogs lie and move forward . Now that the team has returned to winning ways we should all allow peace to reign for this mentality to be sustained. Pls let no one pls up any past concerning Finisi again. He abandon the team and ran away. So pls let the past be buried for the team to prosper. Osihmen has nothing to apologise . its Finidi who should apologise to putting the team in a tight corner and then provocating Osimhen to assaut.

  • Michel 4 weeks ago

It’s now a distraction,u would have said this long time ago..

  • I expected Finidi to decline this question from a busybody journalist who was gunning for sensationalism at a most inopportune time.

The full import/interpretation of a message is not just in WHAT was said, but WHO, WHEN, WHERE, WHY & HOW it was said. All the 5W’s & H needs to be right and it isn’t at this time.

That’s why there’s a private line to communicate certain messages. Taking this to the public (through a nosy journalist) has again given an otherwise innocuous message a different colouration that’ll leave a bad taste in the mouth.

  • @Okus or whatever, This is not the time for Finidi to make this statement when we need to get maximum points, the truth is Ex Footballers don’t care whether Nigeria does well or not, they are all in for the Money. • Dear Ugo, did you not see how Chukwueze put you in your place?

You used to be one of his disciples but you turned your back on him without so much of a wave goodbye when his form dipped.

He is back now with a bang. Don’t be surprised if he scores a hattrick tomorrow.

      • @deo I have never turn My back on Chuks, If you remember I said he will come good this season when he has a good Run in Ac Milan,, To be very honest with you I was disappointed in his Play play attitude and not taking things Serious, But it looks like he may have turned the corner for the better, I wish him well, and happy with his New form. I won’t be surprised if he gets a goal Tomorrow!!

  • Dr. Drey 4 weeks ago

Finidi is not even denying spoiling Osimhen’s name behind his back, his only alibi is ‘…as if I said it in an interview…’.

    An agbaya true and true.

More like as if I killed you in public…? Or as if I raped you in public….?

How does such a lame defence justify the mruder, rape or backstab….?

    Shameless backstabber.

Serves him right. Respect they say is reciprocal. A good coach defends his players in the presence of the powers that be…not backstab them or throw them under the bus because he needs to cook up a good excuse and defence against getting fired from his job.

Not less the most committed player who practically sacrifices his life on the pitch whenever he wears the green and white. How many injured players offer to pay their way to camp to still be in camp with the boys to encourage them.

The boy called you and asked you if he could still turn up, showed you everything that proves he’s injured, you rejected the offer thinking you are Carlo Ancellotti, and then went behind him with tail between your legs after being spanked by Benin on a neutral ground to the minister to tell him osimhen is not committed….he chooses what matches to play…..LMAOoo.

Same Osimhen came on from the bench on Saturday and killed off the Beninoise at a time they where beginning to punch holes in our defence with that powerful half volled with his body almost parallel to the ground. World class finish by every definition.

Honestly, NFF needs to call Finidi and sack him again……LMAOOOoo

    Shameless backstabber.

In typical African fashion, a bad mannered elder is grandstanding in sheer arrogance after goofing badly and expecting the young ones to tender apology to him…..LMAOoo. How about you humbling yourself and apologising to Victor first for trying assassinate his person as an excuse for your incompetence and failure….>??

    Serves him right Once again.

Respect they say is reciprocal. A good coach defends his players in the presence of the powers that be…not backstab them or throw them under the bus because he needs to cook up a good excuse and defence against getting fired from his job.

The comments here are highly hilarious, especially from miscreants who insult people day and night here. Don’t you guys also know that some of us are old enough to be your fathers? Lol. You’re here claiming that Osimhen insulted someone old enough to be his when you guys are even worst. Abeg make una shift. I’ve being watching Super Eagles since I was a kid and I can tell that there are few players who played with so much passion like Victor Osimhen does. Nothing anyone says will convince me otherwise. Osimhen is not a crazy person to rant without proof. May be he reacted to extreme level but its certain Finidi said something negative about Osimhen.

By the way, this is not the time for these nonsense. National team interest supercedes any apology to anyone. National team is a like a country’s military. Military do not apologise.

  • Dr Banks 4 weeks ago

Finidi should first apologize for undermining super eagle by trying to use it as his personal property, peddling falsehood against our strong captain and his colleagues the African best

As we keep seeing elders as God they will keep messing everything up for us knowing fully well we’re going to mistake COWARDNESS to RESPECT.

Nonsense and discipline! Coach Finidi George destabilized and destroyed the team’s cohesion, he should apologize to Nigerians.
God had a way of shaming people that’s while He made Osimhen score despite the time he was introduced into the game. Imagine what these people would have said if he didn’t score or had Nigeria lost to Benin again.

    Why should he apologise?
    To which coach?
    Is Finidi a coach?
Atlanta 96 they invited Finidi he did not come and gave his reasons and no one went to the television station or in newspapers to talk about him. So even if Victor did not want to play use people that wanted to play because everyone has their own reasons. We didn’t want Victor to apologise to anyone. We want him to score goals for us simpleA society where a leader badmouthed his junior and gets away with it on the premise of respect is not ideal.

Finidi came in and destroyed the unity of the team with his ego and personal beef! Did you all see the harmony and love in the team when the 3 goals were scored? NFF should just appoint Finidi again and sack after 5 minutes

Was it not this same Finidi (Vice captain) and Oliseh (Captain) who truncated our match to AFCON glory in Mali 2002? Insulted and walked out a honourable Minister of Sport from the Team’s camp in Mali, just before the SF game with Senegal thereby disrupting the Harmony in the team and losing out to Senegal

This culminated in the ban just before WC 2002 where a hurriedly assembled team built around Okocha and Kanu represented us and giving us our worst WC performance till date

Same faith befell Oliseh and Finidi as a coach, destabilised team unity leading to poor performance in 2016 and 2024 when they were disgraced and resigned

Abeg Finishi, leave Osimhen alone o
