Former Arsenal Midfielder Wilshere Joins Danish Club, AGF

Former Arsenal midfielder, Jack Wilshere, has joined Danish Superliga side Aarhus Gymnastikoforening [AGF] after agreeing contract terms with The Whites.

Whilshere had been clubless since leaving Bournemouth at the end of the 2020/21 season.

Mirror.co.uk reports that The midfielder had been training with Italian side Como from the start of the 2021/21 season, but he couldn’t sign for the club because he didn’t have an EU passport.

The former England international eventually rejoined Arsenal on non-contract basis, purposely for training and keeping fit.

However on Sunday, Danish media reported that Wilshere had joined AGF, with the club putting a teaser about their new signing on the Social Media.

AGF put up a video of a home shirt with the number 10 assigned to Wilshere on the back hanging from a cannon, featuring the caption, ‘Incoming’

AGF also announced Wilshere signing on their official website on Sunday and hoped that the 30 year old would turn out well while donning jersey number 10.

“Jack needs no further presentation and he has shown his worth on both club and national level over the past ten years. So when the opportunity arose to get him here to Aarhus, we had no doubt that we would like to pursue it. Jack can contribute with his excellent technique and his eye for the game and he will give us some extra offensive tools,” AGF wrote in their official website, agf.dk.

AGF Football Director, Stig Inge Bjornebye, said of Wilshere : “He is in good physical shape, but obviously lacks some game fitness. But that will soon come, and we look forward to seeing him in the white jersey, when he has settled in.”

Wilshere who played 34 times for Three Lions of England after making his senior international debut against Denmark is looking forward being a quality addition to the squad.

“I am very much looking forward to contributing to the team,” he said. ” I’m physically in really good shape and I feel fit, so now for me it’s about getting into the squad and see if I can earn some playing time for the club and contribute to get some wins.”
