Liverpool’s Anthony Fowler has urged Scott Fitzgerald to face him in a rematch after he beat Brian Rose on Friday. The 28-year-old lost to Fitzgerald in March after suffering a split decision defeat at the Echo Arena in Liverpool.
Fowler got back to winning ways at the Exhibition Centre after he controlled Rose on the JD NXTGEN bill Scores of 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93 ensured Fowler’s hand was raised and he is already turning his attention to another fight in 2019.
Fitzgerald looks set to face Ted Cheeseman in the coming months and Fowler says he is waiting in line for his chance at redemption. He told Boxing News: “Only 11 fights into my career, I had to be very patient last night under a lot of pressure and follow my coach’s tactics against a very experienced, quality fighter who’s boxed at world level.
Believe me, I’m only going to get better. “Hopefully Scott beats Cheeseman because I believe Scott is a better fighter and then it would be a dream come true to box Scott at the end of the year. I don’t care where it is.”
