France 2019: Oshoala Confident Of Victory Vs South Korea

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala is confident the team can earn their first win at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France against South Korea today (Wednesday), reports Completesports.com.

The encounter at the Stade des Alpes will kick-off at 2pm Nigerian time.

The African champions started their campaign in the competition on a disappointing note going down to a 3-0 defeat against Norway at the Stade Auguite Delaune, Reims.

Following the set-back, the Super Falcons are aiming to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat when they take on the Asians.

And Oshoala is upbeat they can get the job done against the Asians and boost their chances of Round of 16.

“For us as a team, I think, we did our best and really did have not a bad game overall if you check the stats,” Oshoala, who is the team’s vice-captain told reporters on Tuesday.

“But we lost concentration for a couple of minutes which cost us the whole game. In the next game, we have to see what we can get out of it.

“Everyone just keeps being yourself. Put in more effort. Stay concentrated on the pitch, it has to be 100 per cent on the pitch.

“Just stick to the game plan and always remember where you are supposed to be at every point in time.”

  • Well Asisat, something is for sure, one of both teams will score today and i am hoping it is going to be you and your colleagues.

Whereas I recall you guys not conceding any goal in the last group match in 2011, South Korea has never posted a clean sheet in a World Cup match.

However, the Super Falcons have not scored in our last 273 World Cup minutes.

Additionally, Nigeria has lost four of five previous World Cup games to Asian competition, its one win coming against North Korea in 1999.

The coach that masterminded that victory against North Korea 20 years ago (Ismaila Mabo) had this to say: ” I want to pray that history repeats itself for Nigeria against Korea ;remember my side defeated North Korea. However, i fear for the team’s encounter against France”.
