Friendly: S/African Fans Blast Bafana Players After Poor Showing In Draw Against Minnows Andora

South African fans expressed their disappointment with the performance of Bafana Bafana players, after their 1-1 draw with European minnows Andorra in Algeria on Thursday evening.

Bafana head coach Hugo Broos gave opportunities to new players to see what they offer.

The Belgian said he would have loved to see more goals being scored by his team.

Andorra took the lead through Ricardo Fernandez before Elias Mokwana equalised.

After the match, South African fans felt the team performed poorly against Andorra, who are ranked 164th.

@Llekamania_ wrote, “Embarrassing result. We need to start taking friendlies seriously. They contribute to our ranking. Ridiculous man.”

@ShakesRampedi wrote, “Good result for Andorra definitely. Some Bafana Bafana players took the opportunity and some froze, unfortunately.”

Some fans felt Bafana had regressed since the Afcon, and the game against Andorra showed the lack of depth.

@AfricanOligarch said: “Hugo had something functional and yielding results, instead of improving from that he starts another experiment. Perfect time to get rid of him honestly,” said a fan.

“Haibo what a dismal game. We expect more from a national team. They really should focus on precision in passing, positioning, and execution of set plays. Attention to detail can be improved, leading to more consistent performances.

“Yours truly a disappointed fan,” wrote @Lebohang20S.

Bafana Bafana will take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria on match day three in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Uyo in June.

While Bafana Bafana are second on three points after two games, the Eagles are third on two points after the same number of games played.

When both teams met in the semi-finals of the African Cup of Nations, the Eagles won 4-2 on penalty shootout after 120 minutes of football ended 1-1.
