Fury’s Dad Warns Joshua: Stay Away From My Son He’ll Wreck You

Father of newly crowned WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, John, has warned Anthony Joshua his life will be a misery should he ever meet his son in the ring.

A fight between both boxers edged closer last weekend when Fury dominated Deontay Wilder to become a two-time heavyweight world champion.

The clash has been pencilled in for November or December, assuming Fury overcomes Wilder again in their trilogy fight and Joshua beats Kubrat Pulev.

But Fury’s outspoken father has warned Joshua to stay away from his son.

Addressing the three-belt champion, he told IFL TV: “You’re a nice guy. You look well, you’ve got a big future but when it comes down to the beating, fighting lion heart I don’t think you’ve got it.

“So, don’t mess with Tyson Fury . Keep your belts, go and fight other people but don’t mess with Tyson unless it’s worth your while, because let me tell you it’ll be the last time you ever box if you mess with him.

“He will wreck you! [He is a] 19 stone, 6ft 9in wrecking machine who will not stop coming forward but he’ll come forward at you educated and he’ll punish you and he’ll school you and he’ll break your heart.

“He’ll make your life a misery and your life will never be the same again. So, think on. Eddie Hearn that’s to you as well.”

Wilder has just three weeks to trigger the rematch clause in his contract – but Fury’s promoter Frank Warren hopes he can convince the American to step aside.

“I prefer to go straight to Joshua but that’s the contract,” Warren told the BBC. “If he insists on the fight, we’re locked into it.

“It has to be honoured unless we reach some accommodation for him to step aside. We could pay him to step aside if he wants to do that, but that’s his choice.

“It would be lucrative for him, but I have spoken to his manager and Deontay does believe he has the beating of Tyson, and he can knock him out.

“I don’t believe that. I fancied Tyson to stop him before the fight at the weekend.”
