Gale Reveals Return Hopes

Castleford Tigers star Luke Gale says he has not given up hope of playing again this season as he battles back from a serious Achilles injury. The 30-year-old suffered the injury in pre-season training in January and it was thought it would put him out for the entire 2019 Betfred Super League campaign.

Gale still cannot put an exact timeline on his return, saying the decision will be left to the club’s medical team, but hopes to be back in training as soon as August. “Three months I’ve got in my head – I won’t be ready match fit, but I’ll be fit joining in training with the lads.

“It’s going well, I’m progressing and on target. “We’re not trying to break any records coming back but everyone’s really happy. I’m thinking August time back fit – whether I play or not is a different story.

“I think I’ll be fit to play rugby this season, but it’s the physio’s call – every time I try to run he’s pulling me a little back, he’s got kind of a harness on me. “I’m obviously going to say yes I’ll play because I’m an athlete and want to get back, but you’ll have to ask the physio.”
