Galtier: No Qualms Depending On Osimhen For Lille Goals

Lille manager Christophe Galtier is not worried about his side’s overdependence on Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen for goals this season, Completesports.com reports.

Osimhen, who arrived Lille from Belgian side, Sporting Charleroi this summer has shouldered goal scoring
responsibilities for Les Dogues following the departure of Nicolas Pepe and Rafeal Leao.

Lille have scored 19 goals in the French Ligue 1 this season with Osimhen contributing eight from 14 appearances.

The 20-year-old has also scored two of the three goals scored by the club in the UEFA Champions League.

Osimhen celebrates a goal with Lille teammates

”All the team’s are dependent on their strikers. Against Dijon, we were constantly looking for short passes around the box, we have to shoot more,” Galtier told a news conference ahead of Lille’s Ligue 1 clash with Olympic Lyon on Tuesday.

Sir thanks for trusting him to deliver. I’m very confident that he will score more goals for the club. All you need do is to encourage the mid-fielders and wingers to constantly feed him with the ball.

This guy will score goals. The problem with Lille is the teams passes in the 3rd half is not flowing as it’s supposed to. If n when they strike that rhythm in movement of the ball in the third half, just like Chelsea, man city, Barca etc are doing, Osimene will give opponents net a shower of goals.

Indeed, even with the below par service, Osimhen is still banging in the goals. Can you imagine what will happen if the service is good? Man, I want Rohr to try Osimhen and Iheanacho together in the SE attack. Nice things will happen!

Ighalo has banged in 10 goals the last time l heard.

  • Rohr doed not like a two men attack.
That has been all the complain against his style of play.
Play a 9 and 10 pair in attack and see goals rain or 8 and 9 attacking pair and see goals rain down.
    Planty of pairs
    Osimhen/ Iheanacho,
    Osimehn/ Chukweze,
    Osimehn/Aribo,
    Osimehn/lookman

    • Bros, with your above pairing, it shows you are advocating for 4-4-2, which is an outdated formation, no serious minded coach uses that formation again. Man city, liverpool, Chelsea, Barca, Madrid etc plays either 4-4-3,or 3-4-3 or 3-2-3-1 mostly. This is an attacking formation that brings lots of goals and that’s what Rohr adopts. Thats why he was able to score 6 goals in last two matches. So please let’s not critics based on our emotions. Thanks
