Germany: Awoniyi Eyes Debut German Cup Goal

In-form Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi will be gunning for his debut German Cup goal when Union Berlin tackle visiting Paderborn today at the Alte Foersterei.

Awoniyi has been in splendid form in the Bundesliga this season with four goals and one assist to his credit in 11 appearances and will be looking to replicate that form in the DFB Pokal for Union Berlin tonight.

The gangling 23-year old forward who is on loan from Liverpool has improved on his last season performances that saw him score one goal in 12 Bundesliga appearances for Mainz 05.

Awoniyi made his German Cup debut while with Frankfurt in the 2005/16 season playing a cameo 18 minutes in total.

It will be Awoniyi’s second German Cup appearances having only made it to the bench once in the competition while with Mainz O5 last season.
