Gerrard Hints Balogun Is Fit To Feature In Rangers Vs Ross County

Rangers boss, Steven Gerrard has hinted that Nigerian defender, Leon Balogun is fit enough to play in Sunday’s Scottish Premier League tie against Ross County at Ibrox Stadium.

Balogun’s fellow compatriot, Joe Aribo is, however, will still be missing in action for Rangers together with the pair of Nikola Katic and Kemar Roofe all as a result of various injuries.

Balogun was an unused substitute when Rangers emerged 2-1 winners over Galatasaray in the Europa League play-off at Ibrox Stadium on Thursday to reach the competition’s group stage.

And despite the Super Eagles defender having been in and out of the Gers’ squad in recent times which has seen him play just four league games this season, Gerrard hints that Balogun is fit.

“We’ve got a few with a few kicks, bumps and bruises from Thursday night but no one that we are majorly concerned with for the weekend,” Gerrard gave an injury update for today’s game during his pre-match news conference.

“We are getting healthier and hopefully at the weekend, there will still only be three missing which will be Katic, Roofe and Aribo. So, we are getting healthier which is good news.”

Aribo has taken part in only three league games so far during the 2020/21 season. He has hit the back of the net once while Balogun has now had three clean sheets as a centre-back.

Good 4 super eagles, leon balogun is a capable man in defence, his calmness is out of this world.

Nacho is playing absolutely brilliant today. Rodger not trusting this guy irrespective of him having his own style of players, beats my imagination. You can’t have players like Nacho, Wazza dazzler chuzzy, Iwobi, Ejaria, Aribo, etc and moan about players yet to prove themselves at national team level.

  • I like leon balogun but I think his best years are behind him.
He lacks pace. Now, with younger and quicker defenders coming into the super eagles (ehizibue, akpoguma, tyronne) I dont see him commanding a place on the Team.

Oga… @Sportsfan his best years are not behind him. He used real age… Some Super Eagle. Claiming 22 years are seriously older than him.

Hahahahaha…..I agree with you on this one….You really hit the spot…LMAO. The so called “young” defenders in the SE in their thirties already. We know as e dey go.
What Balogun lacks in pace, he makes up with intelligence and experience. There are younger defenders in his club, yet he has returned from injuries to take his place in the 1st team, thats says a lot. He’s clearly the most intelligent defender we have had in the SE since Isaac Okoronkwo.
