Gibson Ready To Fight For Burnley Future

Burnley defender Ben Gibson is set to fight for his place at Turf Moor despite interest from Turkey. The former Middlesbrough defender is wanted by Turkish giants Besiktas but the Clarets rejected a loan approach earlier this week. Gibson only joined the Clarets last summer but has barely featured under coach Sean Dyche.

Burnley paid £15million for his services but the centre-back has only made one Premier League appearance so far for the club. The form of James Tarkowski and Ben Mee is keeping him at bay although reports in Lancashire say Gibson is determined to fight for his spot.

The Nunthorpe-born defender has three years left on his current contract but Burnley and Gibson are on the same page as it stands. Gibson is currently training in Portugal and has been working alongside team-mates Tarkowski and Aaron Lennon. On Wednesday, he tweeted: “Another great session by Matt Radcliffe today in preparation for pre-season. Good to be joined by a few familiar faces as well.”
