Goteborg Nigerian Midfielder Yusuf Linked With Wolves, Sheffield

Nigerian teenager Alhassan Yusuf has been linked with Sheffield United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and a number of other Premier
League clubs in recent months.

The 19-year-old, Kano-born central midfielder has been the subject of a seven million euro bid from Wolves earlier this week, according to reports, with the Blades being linked as being interested in the IFK Goteborg midfielder earlier this year.

Reports also suggested that the Blades had a £3m bid for Yusuf knocked back by his Swedish employers.

The teenager first moved to Sweden in 2018 after leaving the Tiki Taka academy in Nigeria.

Yusuf has made more than 30 appearances for IFK Goteborg’s first-time since making his debut in October 2018.

Aged 18, Yusuf’s senior debut saw him play in the Allsvenskan as a late substitute during a win over IF Brommapojkarna.

That one-minute cameo was Yusuf’s only appearance in 2018, but the 2019 campaign saw him become a regular throughout the season.

Yusuf made 26 appearances in the league, 24 of those coming from the start of matches. During the final game of the 2019 league season, Yusuf scored his first two goals in senior football during a 7-1 win over Ostersund.

His form in last year’s league campaign saw him win the Allsvenskan’s Newcomer of the Year award.

During the 2019/20 Svenska Cupen, Yussuf has featured in all four of his side’s matches, providing three assists to put them into the quarter-finals.

Last year, he was linked with Barcelona and Ajax, showing the scale of the clubs that have been reportedly keeping tabs on the teenager’s progression.

His qualities are very well rounded, maintaining a high pass accuracy percentage, as well as possessing good speed and strength.
