Gracia Not Giving Up On Doucoure

Javi Gracia has insisted there is no need for Abdoulaye Doucoure to leave Watford this summer as he can help the club grow.

The 26-year-old is likely to be at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war come the end of the season with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal all understood to be big fans of the midfielder.

PSG made enquiries as to the Frenchman’s availability in January but were told he would not be allowed to leave mid-season.

After learning of the snub, Doucoure spoke of his desire to join the French giants and achieve one of his career goals of playing Champions League football.

Doucoure recently reiterated his desire to play European football and a £40million move to PSG is understood to be a possibility.

The former Rennes man has also insisted that he is happy with life at Watford currently and Gracia believes he could still remain at Vicarage Road.

The Spaniard feels that should he stay with the Hornets so he can help the club get to the next level with European qualification not out of the question this season. “When he said he wanted to grow, I said I would like him to grow with me in this team and I think we can do it,” said Gracia. “We can do it together, with Doucoure, with other players.

If we are able to grow step by step, I think we have the players to improve day by day. “They have a good mentality, a good attitude and, working like they are doing, we can grow together.”
