Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton has revealed he is a big admirer of MotoGP and has given thought to taking up motorbike racing.
The 33-year-old is currently preparing for the 2019 Formula One season, as the Englishman goes in search of his sixth Drivers’ Championship title.
Having grown up watching MotoGP, Hamilton has spoken of his admiration of legendary racer Valentino Rossi, but at the moment his sole focus is on the Silver Arrows.
“I’ve always been passionate about motorcycles since I was a kid, not everyone knows it, but I’ve always liked the two wheels in addition to cars,” Hamilton told Sky Italia.
“I had a cross bike when I was young, I trained with bikes in 2017 and 2018 and I had a lot of fun, but I was not so fast.
“In any case, if I was not involved with Formula 1, I would have to try somewhere with the bikes. “To switch to the bike?
I think about it, but it’s very difficult.” He added: “Surely I’ll ride a MotoGP bike on some occasion. Being on the same track with Valentino on the bike would be crazy because I’m a huge fan of him, a real honour, but it should teach me everything.”
