‘He Is A Centre Forward Who Gives Us Depth’- Gattuso In Awe Of Osimhen Quality

Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso has lauded Victor Osimhen for his impressive performance in the side’s 6-0 thrashing of Genoa on Sunday, reports Completesports.com.

On his first start since linking up with the Blues from Ligue 1 club Lille, Osimhen proved too hot to handle for the Genoa defenders in the encounter played at the Stadio San Paolo>

The 21-year-old , who was unlucky not to get a goal, bagged an assist in the contest.

The young forward was close to scoring on four occasions in the first half.

He recorded five shots, won three aerial battles with a passing accuracy of 61 .5%.

“It is a possibility that we have, even if I must say that by playing like this
we can concede by dribbling too much. We have many attacking and young players who are enthusiastic about this type of organization. But again, the search for balance is important,”Gattuso was quoted by the club website.

“This year we have a center forward who gives us depth. Osimhen is present in almost all of our offensive plays and this is indicative of his value.”

Napoli will face champions Juventus in their next league game on Sunday.

That above quote by the Italian great sums it up. Osimhen is top quality and come October 9 and 13,the Fennecs of Algeria and the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia will not escape his firepower.

Maybe, just maybe, who knows, whether the Elephants of Coted’ivoire, who withdrew from a proposed international friendly with the Super Eagles, are apprehensive of Osimhen’s current devastating form!

      Hahahaha @ Hilary.

Your thoughts though funny strangely has a correlation with the headline below

@Dr.Drey i read the article too…only blind people will say there’s been no improvement in the SE..major improvement… For Mane to say all that it shows big football countries are beginning to take notice of how good we’re becoming.

      • Ha ha ha ha! Thank you so much @ Dr.Drey.You see, even the legendary Liverpool striker,Sadio Mane knows it. Believe me,that’s why the Elephants of Ivory Coast cancelled their friendly with the Super Eagles. Who wants to face the blistering pace and dribbling runs of Chidera Ejuke? Who can withstand the ferocious firepower of Victor Osimhen? What of the swashbuckling sorties of Samuel Chukwueze down the flanks? Remember from 67th few months back we are now 29th in the world and 3rd Africa!Just that we will miss Wilfred Ndidi in Austria. But any of Frank Onyeka,Samson Tijani or Mikel Agu could be called upon graft for us in the defensive midfield position.

Oshimen according to his former club is combination of old and new strikers . He’s a player full of greatness. And I hope to see more of him.

Osimhen shouldn’t be carried away by Gattuso’s good words. He should be selfish at times and start scoring goals. That’s why they spent so much money to bring him to the club. A few more games without a goal, he should prepare for a life on the bench. Good to hear his club is doing well. But one loss with Osimhen yet to score will surely attract the ire of the fans. And this could be begining of his problem with the coach.

I pray he starts scoring goals. It will really help his confidence.

  • Osimhen needs to start scoring goals, how can you be scoring hart trick like water in pre-season and now you cant even score a goal, the earlier the better please. I wasn’t happy yesterday that he did not score.

  • I didn’t watch the match due to my engagement but immediately i checked “livescore” i saw 6nil in favour of napoli and i quickly thought within myself that OSIMHEN has atleast a brace…

But quite unfortunate for me to check through the scorer’s sheet and discovered that he didn’t even hit the post….
    I felt so saaaaaad.

Pls whoever is close to him should advise him to start scoring goals now that the napoli fans are still smilling at him….

Just wondering how he would cope against JUVENTUS ITALIAN WALL of CHIELLINI & BUNICCI….

That means 3 games without a single goal already loading unless things turn around….

  • He will score against juve
