Henry Backs Liverpool To Match Arsenal’s EPL Unbeaten Record

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry says Liverpool hve what it takes to match the unbeaten record of the Gunners.

Liverpool wrapped up their 17th win of this season’s Premier League by thrashing second-placed Leicester City 4-0 on Thursday.

A brace from Roberto Firmino and a goal each from James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold, saw Liverpool maintain their unbeaten run.

The win saw Liverpool stretch their lead at the top of the table to 13 points with a game in hand over Leicester.

Only a draw against Manchester United has stopped Jurgen Klopp’s side maintaining a perfect record, but they are still yet to lose this season.

Henry was a member of the only other side to go a whole campaign unbeaten – with Arsenal’s Invincibles in 2004 – and he feels their record is under serious threat.

Speaking before the game at the King Power on Thursday of the match on Amazon Henry said: “It’s for me a statement tonight. If they come here and win it, and win it well, it will be a matter of when, not if, they are going to win it [the Premier League].

“I think they’re going to win it.

“And I’m going to push it further, not because we’ve done it with Arsenal but because it’s a matter for me if they’re going to stay unbeaten.

“I think that team can stay unbeaten, and it will be who’s going to beat them first, because I think they will win the league.

“It’s not a big statement because they’re above everybody this year, and they can make a statement tonight.

“With the fixtures that they have at the minute, being able to come here and create that gap, that can be almost over.”

The result left Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers in awe of his former side, and admitted just like Henry that Liverpool will be “very, very hard to stop.”

“They are a fantastic team, their confidence is high and they have become winners now,” he added.

“They haven’t lost many games over 18 months. To lose the games they’d need to, they have enough experience and quality to stay focused and get the job done.”
