Hooper Takes Swipe At Wales

Australia captain Michael Hooper has started the war of words with Wales ahead of their World Cup clash later this year. The sides have been drawn together in Pool D and will square off in Tokyo’s Ajinomoto Stadium on September 29.

With the top two sides in the group set to advance to the quarter-finals, both the Dragons and the men in green and gold should have no problems in making the knockout stage, with Uruguay, Fiji and Georgia completing the Pool. Therefore it is early to be getting in a first broadside but Hooper has aired his thoughts.

“Wales are going to play no rugby and break you down through set-piece and shots at goal,” he said. However, the 27-year-old flanker did concede they “are very good defensively” before adding to the Sydney Morning Herald: “Fiji have got everything in their kit bag with their attack and sometimes in their big shots in defence.”
