Watford reportedly want to sign Colombia midfielder Mateus Uribe from Club America, but will face competition from Porto.
Record newspaper in Mexico claim Watford have expressed an interest in the 28-year-old, who was a regular for Colombia at the last World Cup.
Despite plenty of interest in him from European sides, Uribe moved to Mexico after the tournament in Russia and has continued to impress with his hard-working style and ability on the ball.
Portuguese giants Porto are looking at him as a potential replacement for Hector Herrara, who has joined Atletico Madrid, but Watford might also need a central midfielder if there is any renewed interest in Abdoulaye Doucoure late in the summer transfer window.
However, Porto are said to be leading the chase with their president Pinto da Costa having put together a proposal of around 10million euros.
