Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is already being linked with the Newcastle job following the news Rafael Benitez is set to leave. Benitez had been locked in contract talks with the Magpies since the end of last season but the two parties have been unable to agree terms, which means the Spaniard will be leaving St James’ Park on June 30.
The rumour mill has already gone into overdrive linking names with the soon to be vacated hot seat, and it should come as no surprise to see Howe’s name in the frame. The Cherries boss has worked wonders during his second spell in charge at the club, turning them into an established Premier League club, earning plenty of plaudits along the way.
Howe has already headed north once during his managerial career, when an ill-fated switch to Burnley failed to work out, and he quickly returned to the south coast. Such an experience may make Howe think again should the Newcastle job come in his direction. But at the same time the Magpies remain a huge club and could be too tempting to turn down.
