Hull Triumphs In Abu Dhabi

Charley Hull has made the perfect start to 2019 after claiming a one-shot victory in the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open on Saturday.

The Englishwoman went into the final round at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club holding a slender lead and a score of 69 was enough to seal glory as she finished on eight-under par for the tournament.

Hull’s round had started in nervy fashion but an eagle at the par-five 11th helped put the 22-year-old back in control although she also had to pull off a superb up-and-down at the last to avoid a play-off.

Norway’s Marianne Skarpnord ended the tournament as Hull’s nearest rival on seven-under, as she signed for a final-round score of 68, while a group of five players finished in a tie for third on three-under, including England’s Jodi Ewart Shadoff.

It was Hull’s day, however, and the 22-year-old was delighted to claim her second victory on the Ladies European Tour and first since her triumph at the Lalla Meryem Cup nearly five years ago.

“I’ve practised really, really hard over the winter and it feels great to win back on the LET, especially since I had my first pro win in Morocco five years ago,” said Hull.

The world number 24 is now targeting a successful 2019 and believes the hard work she has put in over the off-season is starting to pay off.
